SJA is....odd. The stories are a lot, lot better than I was expecting. And I appreciate RTD's continued efforts to bring modern families to the TV screen. Characters are kind of all over the map though.
Sarah Jane I know from DW of course, and I liked her there. But in this, I'm a bit distressed at how often she's putting children in danger to suit her own investigations. Like sending Maria out sniffing the smell of ozone in the Slitheen episode, holy crap. Couldn't that get her put in prison for child endangerment? I've also always found Elisabeth Sladen a bit odd-looking though. Head is too big for her body, she looks like a bobble-head
Alan and Clyde I really really like a lot. I don't know what it is.
Maria (whom I understand departs as a regular shortly) is kind of flat and boring IMO. Not the greatest POV character. And her mum, oh god what a nuisance. And by "nuisance" I really mean a four-letter word that starts with a C.
