Netflix gets rights to stream AMC's 'Walking Dead'

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Netflix is adding the Emmy-nominated television series "The Walking Dead" to its Internet video library as part of its latest licensing agreement with AMC Networks Inc.

Additional seasons of "The Walking Dead" and other shows on AMC and the Sundance Channel also will be fed to Netflix under the multiyear licensing agreement. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia estimated that Netflix may be paying AMC Networks more than $35 million for the rights.

There is a marathon on AMC (at least in Canada) for season 1. Sunday October 16th, starts at 2:30pm EST. Then at 9pm season 2 starts.

I had caught this in re-runs but during a special marathon where they added in converstations with people involved with the series. I assumed that meant less commercials since the schedule was still 1 hour blocks. AMC let me down by doing that! I missed the last 30 minutes because I PVRed it and did not know that each episode was running into the next hour and by the time I got into the next hour episode 5 ended half way through! So I am so happy they are re running season 1 so I can finally get that last 30 minutes!
