I wanted to voice my thoughts on the movie, I only saw it once in theaters and just now rented it to see it again to let it soak in some more.
I'm a huge Trek fan I've seen all the movies, all the shows, and have more Trek books in my apartment than my gf would like
Overall, I have to say I enjoyed the movie. It wasn't quite as good as I was hoping; I was hoping for a Batman Begins/Casino Royale level of reboot-awesomeness. But still it was pretty decent.

My Likes:
- The Cast - I thought the cast of the Enterprise crew was perfect. I think Chris Pine makes an excellent Kirk, Urban did a perfect McCoy, they were all great.
- The Kobayashi Maru Scene - Some people didn't like it, but I thought it was perfect. It suited Kirk's rebellious nature. Some said he would have hided it better, but I doubt it. Kirk didn't think of it as cheating remember? Nor is he a dishonest person. And in STII:WoK it was already established that others new about what he did (McCoy and Spock) so making it a big secret would have been going against canon.
- The new Enterprise - I really liked the exterior design, I felt they got the right balance of new/sleek but still making it look like the TOS ship. The more industrial nature of the engineering section didn't bother me too much. ST:E had a lot of that sort of look in the ships, and this takes place between ST:E and TOS so it makes sense.
- The Crew Scenes - I already pointed out that I liked the acting, but I also think the scenes done between the new crew were very entertaining, like when Kirk meets Uhura in the bar, McCoy on the shuttle, etc.
My main dislikes were:
- The Romulans - Bana was one of the few I think didn't do that great of a job with the character. And the writers didn't give Nero enough screen time. And they were a little too sinister to be believable, they were very cliche.
- The old Spock/red matter plot - I didn't really like the way they incorporated it into the story, and a lot of technical details were wrong which really bothers us geeky Trekkies. Like Spock being able to see Vulcan implode from another planet, "red matter" sort of coming out of nowhere, etc.
