I am so suprised that the original soundtracks are not getting that much attention, especially, since Goldsmith's work is the basis for almost all movie soundtracks.
Seriously though, I think Voyager had the best theme.
Actually, I probably would seriously go with Enterprise as my favourite. Hated the show <g>, but loved the theme and, have to admit, was always highly amused by the outrage of the purist fan over that one.
Followed by Voyager as a close second.

Listen, we had General Ryan come on and do a little cameo for us, and he's a real live four star, one of the big guys. And I had to ask him point blank, because there's a certain irreverence that I bring to the character, and denseness, but while we were doing this scene, I just looked at him and said, "Do you have guys like me in...?" and he stopped me and said, "Yes, and worse, and you're doing a fine job, son."

When I comes to the Enterprise theme, I take the view that both the show and the song were good, but that the show with the song wasn't. I thought that it was more inappropriate than out and out bad.

I watched and heard them all...Voyager all the way for me. Doesn't mean at all that that's the one I prefer..I just think the music and the visuals matched majestically with Voyager.
Just my own two cents on the Enterprise theme - I think it's great. I was a little hesitant at first. In fact when the opening credits started rolling and the music started on the series premiere I thought I might have had it on the wrong channel. But it grew on me really fast. Considering Enterprise was probably the least best (I'd hate to use the word "worst") of the ST series, I think the opening credits was one of the best parts of the show. It wasn't just the music, it was the combination of music with the clips. I thought it was great. All the other treks were just opening scenes of the ships flying around (or the station). But Enterprise had a truly unique opening, and it told like the entire backstory for mankind's exploration, as well as our trek "future". The song was a perfect match for it.

Agree with you there, I do think the Enterprise theme really fitted the show exceptionally..and those who knocked it, because of the lyrics that went with it, missed the point entirely, I just prefer the Voyager theme as the one I that got me in the "Star Trek mode" more..
STM6: The score for the undiscovered country was brilliant. For me, the film iself has yet to be bettered... by a Star Trek film at least.
STM1, 5 and TNG music is brilliant. That has become the Star Trek theme for me.
ST:FC. Great score, so powerful and emotional.
ST:TOS. Just a classic. Yes, it may be dated, but you can't deny it's Iconic.
STM2:TWOK. Brutal, heroic music.
Not fussed on the others.
Rimmer: 'I cant let you out'
Lister: 'Why not?'
Rimmer: 'Because the king of the potato people wont let me. I begged him. I got down on my knees and wept. He wants to keep you here, keep you here for 10 years'
Cat: 'Can we see him?'
Rimmer: 'See who?'
Cat: 'The king.'
Rimmer: 'Do you have a magic carpet?'
Lister: 'Yeah...a little 3 seater'
Rimmer: 'So let me get this straight, you want to fly on a magic carpet to see the king of the potato people, and plead with him for your freedom. And your telling me your completely sane?'
As the series go, I liked Voyger's theme best, followed by DS9's. I think they both fitted the show perfectly and were great pieces of music that were very distinct. TNG's music was a little cheesy to be honest, though you knew it was ST when you heard it.
I think the thing about ENT was how indistinct it was. You could have heard it on the radio and thought it was a good song, not realising it was a Trek theme song. I actually really liked it, and back up what a lot of people have said about it fitting the idea of ENT...
As for movies...I've always loved the score to ST:VI The Undiscovered Country...

Wrong.
Russel Watson's voice served the feel of the show much better than Rod Stewart's original recording. And, more importantly, the WORDS, and MEANING behind them totally, TOTALLY fit the theme of the show, and blended PERFECTLY with the opening credits' art and clips. It showed mankind's perserverence, and humanity's steps of progress, showing that those that have faith will succeed, and if people have faith in mankind, maybe awesome things like starships will happen.

the theme for ENT wasn't a Trek song. It's a Rod Stewart song from a long time ago. it was just re-recorded.
and glad to see more support for Undiscoered country - my favorite movie and music!

Sorry, I didn't read all the posts cause I just looked at the last post (which at the time was someone saying they disliked it) and just wanted to added my opinion.
