Thats the one Darkstar, the episode starts off with Sisko making an entry in a personal log and telling us the story of events of the last 36 hours about getting the Romulans invloved in the Dominion war as allies of the Federation. Great great stuff!.
Yeah, once again proving that the 'evolved' hew-mons could be just as dirty as the next race. That 'claim' always annoyed me. That humanity had 'evolved'. Gotten smarter? Yes. Gotten more peaceful? Yes. Changed on a fundamental genetic way? NO. Section 31 was another example of that point. Chief O'Brian knew the truth too, after his stay in that prison.
On the other hand, I'd probably agree with Sisko. It was necessary.

Awww section 31, reminds me of the NID from SG O'Brien and Bashir did some damage to Section 31, those were some very well written episodes!.
I actually read a study on Yahoo news a couple of weeks ago about how a group of evolutionary scientists that claims that contrary to popular belief that humans are still evolving genetically. Let's hope so

It's funny how eminent peril drives men to do things that the day before they never would have imagined. I'm with you brother SeaStallion, Sisko with the help of Garek did what was necessary.

Yeah, I liked the Section 31 episodes too. Yah, we may still be evolving, but it is at a snails pace. In 400 years, humans would not be any further along than they are now, without radical intervention.
...and yep..! Sometimes desperate situations call for desperate measues.

The introduction of Section 31 was a good move by TPTBs. I thought it was refreshing that the Federation had a secret organisation similar to the Romulans and Cardassians. It just goes to prove that under the surface, the Federation is not quite the 'woolly peaceniks' of the 24th century.
When I think about it, having a secret organisation like Section 31 protecting the Federation from external and internal threats probably was a necessary evil. After all, it was Section 31 that really won the war against the Dominion by developing the virus to wipe out the Founders.
What do you guys think, would the Federation have lasted as long if Section 31 never existed?

Actually, I'd say the cure to the Founder's plauge (gotten by force by Bashir and O'Brian) helped stop the war more than the plauge itself did. Yeah, in the long run it would've finished the Dominion, but it would have been a stain on the integrity of the Federation.

We are moving along at a snails pace, they said in the study it might be 10 or 15 millenium before any significant difference in our brains is noticed. I guess its better than devolving.

Good point MF, the introduction of section 31 was perfect for DS9. It showed Braga's vision for a not so nice ST/Federation universe perfectly. Plus it really made an already great storyline arc all the more interesting.

Agreed!.

Probably not, although I did like how they (Bashir and O'Brien) weeded them out into the open and exposed it for it truly is.
It does make you wonder what else Section 31 have been involved in though, doesn't it? I know it was "kind of" mentioned in ENT but i would've loved to see what part it played in the Romulan-Earth war. In fact, i'd love to see that period.

Yah, I'd like to see the Romulan Wars too. At first I thought it would be good in a movie, but after some thought I think it would be better in a Mini-series instead. After all, how much can you cover a war in a single movie? A mini-series would allow you to cover much more information. At least 3 or 4 two hour episodes should do the trick...! Then they could show the 'birth of the federation'.

That is such a great idea!, kind of like how they did the 'Peace Keeper Wars' miniseries for Farscape. It would be a perfect test to see what kind of ratings and interest it has at that time.

I am with brother Fifth and you Sea, I would love a 4 or 5 part mini-series on anything Star Trek. But that whole Romulan war angle would be great!.
We should have already seen or be in the middle of the Romulan War by now. If Berman and Braga had included the Romulan Wars in "Enterprise" in some form, even for one whole season like the Xindi arc, then just maybe we would be watching season 5 of ST: Enterprise.
Even though a mini-series about the Romulan Wars sounds like a good idea, I don’t know if I like the idea of going back to the past anymore. Star Trek was always about looking forward to the future. I guess I’m just feeling a bit jaded after the end of Enterprise.
Still, there’s always the superior Star Trek show available to watch.

Yeah, there is NO doubt, that they "screwed the pooch" (as they say... poor pooch... ), with that whole Xindi thing. They should've went straight to the Romulan conflict as they were starting to do, just before the show got cancelled. It's almost enough to make one want to spit on those guys. What were they thinking??? *sigh* I can't say I blame you friend...
