Farscape Complete Series Megaset: November 2009!!! (R1)

Mine should be coming soon. I have a bunch of the Starbust DVDs (over 3/4 of them) so I may end up giving them to a friend to see if she likes them. I did the same with my old Buffy box sets when I got the Chosen Collection.

I'm told the video quality is better with the new collection, so I'm excited to see if this is true!

I'd never seen Farscape before, so getting the chance to watch the entire series in a few months was great. It was a lot better than I expected, particularly the later seasons. But there were also some classic episodes early on too. Here's my review, if anyone's interested:

Is anyone else annoyed that there are still no Subtitles with the new set?? Grrrrrr I was so looking forward to that...and nothin.... But I am enjoying the extras and the higher vid quality.

Yup. It was quite annoying. Still, it's a great set...would've been more 'complete' if it had subs, tho'.

There were english subtitles (for the hearing impaired) on the Starburst sets. I would have thought they would just carry that over.

what do the Starburst sets have that the Complete Series Megaset doesn't, at least in terms of extras?
Is it worth trying to get the Starburst stuff? (I only have the megaset)

Space, mainly. They wanted to make sure that the Complete Series set would fit much better onto shelves than previous releases had. This meant ditching some bonus features, and a slight reduction in overall video quality in order to make sure the whole series fit into a 26-disc set.

I searched for the stuff over at the stores here but I could only find the new individual season sets. I could buy them like that, but that would cost probably over 200 dollars. Ouch.

I got mine when it was still at pre-order price (around 105 USD)...it's now just 60 USD.
(unless you were referring to prior editions? )

What would I need subtitles for?

I love to put the subtitles on because sometimes it's difficult to hear what they say in some instances...due to the sound/music mixing.

Amazon.com says the region 1 disk is closed caption. So it should have the english subtitles but no other languages.

Huh. Could it be that Amazon's wrong? I mean I have the Region 1 copy of the complete series box (is there a release for other regions?), and there aren't any subs from what I've seen (and I've gone through the set at least once...I did stop checking for subs after the first and/or second season, tho').

Hmmm ... I just checked one of my starburst disks and on that when I click the subtitles button on my remote - selecting English(1) gives me subtitles. There is also an option if you chose Setup from the main menu.

If they don't have closed captioning on the new set, shame on them!!
