sigpic Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

Front row seats at the Sci Fi Upfront: Chatting with the stars of Battlestar Galactica
Last Tuesday night, I attended the Sci Fi Channel upfront presentation in the newly-renovated Morgan Library. Women's magazine writers don't usually top the invite list for this network's annual dog-and-pony show upfront, but I was on Sci Fi's radar after writing a short item about their marquee show, Battlestar Galactica, for the April issue of ELLE ("A Woman's Space"). I brought K.O. as my "VIP Guest" (after all, he's the one who introduced me to the show), and we had a total blast.
The event began with a one-hour press Q&A with the men responsible for Battlestar, Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, Sci Fi's head of programming, Mark Stern and all of the major stars of the show. We scored great seats, and were eye-level with Katee Sackoff (Starbuck), Mary McDonnell (President Laura Roslin), Tricia Helfer (Number Six), Grace Park (Boomer/Athena), Edward James Olmos (Admiral Adama), Jamie Bamber (Apollo), James Callis (Gaius Baltar), Michael Hogan (Colonel Tigh) and Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol). Bestill my heart!
Say hello to Battlestar's postergrrls one last time; the sci-fi hit's final season starts April 4

Katee Sackhoff and Grace Park strike a back-to-back pose, smiling coquettishly for the cameras – the resulting pictures, when printed, guaranteed to warm the hearts (or something) of every male Galactica geek, and inspire and empower their female counterparts.
……….
And therein lies one of the primary reasons for the series' enduring impact and appeal: You never know what will happen next, and absolutely anything can – particularly during this climactic last season.
Not even the cast members are told in advance.
"I don't know how they manage to keep surprising us," says Park, "because you would have thought they would have done all of the angles, every storyline would have either been done, or you can expect it ... and somehow they always manage to do something that you don't expect."
"It all surprises me," Sackhoff agrees. "But it doesn't, you know? (We don't know anything until) the day we get our scripts, really. Occasionally, they'll allude to certain things, but you don't have anything in concrete until it's on that page, and even then things get cut."
It is a very nice photo, yes. But Grace Park seems to be making a rather rude gesture...
