        This is seriously frakked up.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Battlestar Galactica's ass-kicking Katee Sackhoff was thisclose to becoming Jorja Fox's pseudo-replacement next season on CSI. In fact, she was considered to be such a lock for the new series-regular role of Bryce Adams that exec producers Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar, both huge fans of the actress, were practically rolling a red carpet all the way to her trailer.

        But...

Oh, come on, you knew there was a "but" coming. After seeing Sackhoff read for the part of the sexy new CSI on the graveyard shift, executives at both CBS (who declined to comment for this story) and Jerry Bruckheimer Television remained unconvinced that they had found their Bryce. And, unfortunately, their opinion won out.

Told you it was a frakked-up story.

        <snip>
All I can say is thank goodness it's not happening. Katee will have no shortage of oppertunities and she could do wayyyy better than the CSI franchise.

Oh I dunno... Could've had the potential to be rather interesting.

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

The "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff prequel "Caprica" has cast its first lead role.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Paula Malcomson will play Amanda Graystone, the matriarch of the Graystone family in the planet-based drama.

Malcomson is probably best known for her role of Trixie, the prostitute trying to become legitimate in the HBO western series "Deadwood." She also had a two-episode stint as Colleen Pickett -- one of The Others -- in the ABC series "Lost."

Most recently, she appeared in five episodes of HBO's short-lived drama "John from Cincinnati. She also appeared in the "Star Trek: Enterprise" episode "Silent Enemy" as Madeline Reed.

Review: 'Battlestar Galactica' - The Road Less Traveled

The following contains MAJOR SPOILERS for "The Road Less Traveled" episode of the SciFi Channel series "Battlestar Galactica."

            Spoiler:
At times, “Battlestar Galactica” exhibits some of the best writing on television. I sometimes walk away from my television thinking how sad it is that this series is ending.

Then there are episodes like this that could serve as a poster child in the argument for abbreviated seasons.

I warned the editors of this site that I may not be the best guy on the staff to review "Galactica." I came to the show at the beginning of the third season, then caught up on DVD. While I like it, I simply don’t love it like most of its normal fan base. As a result, when I see an episode that I don’t enjoy, I immediately assume that I must have missed something of great importance that “real” fans of the show must see. Not this time though -- this episode just plain stunk.

Sackhoff Loses Out On 'CSI' Role
She might be one of television's best female badasses, but apparently Katee Sackhoff can't please everyone.
Michael Ausiello over at TV Guide says the "Battlestar Galactica" actress who made the spotlight as the tough fighter pilot Starbuck, was apparently the leading actress to take over Jorja Fox's role on the CBS series "CSI." While she had won over executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar, it ended up being the suits at CBS plus Jerry Bruckheimer himself which put Sackhoff's candidacy for the role at a sudden end.

It's a bit sad as many fans would love to see Sackhoff take on a meaty role similar to what Fox had before her departure.

In the meantime, Sackhoff continues filming for "Battlestar Galactica," which is currently airing its fourth and final season on SciFi Channel.

Other actors are getting gigs, however. Tricia Helfer -- the infamous Number Six -- has joined "Burn Notice," and Tehmoh Penikett, who plays Helo, has picked up a spot on the new Joss Whedon series "Dollhouse."

Esai Morales (CBS' Jericho) has joined the cast of SCI FI Channel's two-hour pilot for Caprica, a prequel to Battlestar Galactica, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the Universal Media Studios project, Morales will play Joseph Adama, the father of William Adama (played in Battlestar by Edward James Olmos), who one day will take command of the Galactica.

Joseph is described as a deeply passionate man with a strong sense of justice--and someone you wouldn't want as your enemy.

Paula Malcomson was previously cast as a surgeon who works as a double agent.

Microsoft, chasing Apple, adds TV shows to Zune Marketplace
                    By JESSICA MINTZ
                    May 6, 2008

                    Excerpt:

AP Technology Writer SEATTLE (AP) -- Microsoft Corp. said late Monday it will now sell TV shows, including popular NBC series, on the Zune Marketplace, a move that brings its selection of content for the digital media player a step closer to what Apple Inc.'s iTunes offers for Apple's much more popular iPod.

Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft said it also planned to send out software updates overnight that add new features to the Zune devices and the PC software used to buy and manage digital content.

Microsoft ventured into downloadable video sales for Zunes last October when it released its second-generation players and software, but the content was limited to music videos.

Starting Tuesday, Microsoft will sell episodes of TV shows including Comedy Central's "South Park" and Sci-Fi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" for $1.99 each.

In a small victory over Apple, Microsoft said the Zune Marketplace will also carry NBC shows including "The Office" and "Heroes." NBC Universal has said it pulled its shows from iTunes over Apple's unwillingness to set different prices for TV shows.

Huh? *is confused* Wasn't itunes selling shows for $1.99 per episode? And NBC was complaining about the price. So how is this different?
