So Muslims who use Hijabs and Burkas are ISIS or Taliban? What's next? Muslims who pray five times a day drink the blood of baby socialists? How can you not see the islamophobia inherent in this and your previous quote?

lol nice try trying to spin things around
I was talking about taliban style methods adopted by the Prolife(tm) bible belt neocons in response to Annoyed's post on Prolife(tm) propaganda aimed at swaying pro-choice folk - you did keep track from the start right? - and you stepped in with the islamophobia comment thereby implicitly saying that those methods are typical of islam & there's the islamophobia right there in your response (not that I care tbh cause as I said that's not the point)
see everyone can play that game
but maybe the real issue for you is the whole abortion thing?
if memory serves you're a catholic so the fact you mention the islamophobia thing is unusual for a catholic unless maybe the real reason was because you approve of those extreme Prolife(tm) policies & the islamophobia comment was just a means of attempting to defend those policies while at the same time trying to shield yourself from counter attack by invoking islamophobia - a devilish strategy that would work on the PC crowd but that don't work on me :| busted

I work close to the Parliament and I see strikes and protests of all sort on a weekly basis. Indigenous rights, gay rights, etc although prolife and prochoice are regular customers.

Only in the prolife camp have I seen children used to distribute pamphlets. What kind of monster doesn't accept a gift from a little kid?

Religious convictions aside I just think it's sad the kid is forced to interact with complete strangers instead of being out there having fun with his friends. Just like kids that are forced in sports or other competitive areas.
                Spoiler:
I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to—I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more.

No, you didn't mention the taliban until after I called you out. Don't try to play this off as if you were only signaling extremists. You blindly used Islamic imagery with no consideration whatsoever on the fact that the majority of Muslims who make use of said imagery are not extremists. And now you are trying to use some odd ad hominem here by trying to paint me as a Catholic like if that somehow justified your problematic post. This is nothing more than "whataboutism" meeting an ad hominem.

And FYI, I'm not Catholic. Even if I were Catholic, I don't see how it would change the fact that your post was islamophobic. If anything this method of dodging, which is what it is, only reveals anti-Catholic (if not anti-Christian) sentiments on top of your islamophobia. I mean...really? Are all Catholics/Christians now Islamophobic and incapable of calling people out of actual islamophobia? Talk about stereotypes...

You messed up, if you just simply made a poorly worded or thought out post say so instead of digging yourself a bigger hole.

good so you did miss the point. damn right I used islamic imagery that was the whole point since the neocons who claim to hate islamists are the same neocons who foist their own version of sharia in their own country while at the same time claiming their country's the "land of the free" (the same way their support of capital punishment makes them look hypocritical, for the exact same reason)
ho and have you noticed that you didn't even address the root problem the OP was talking about in the first place? the one I was responding to. instead of calling out those Prolife(tm) nutjobs I was signaling you instead harped on the 'islam' part & never even mentioned the barbaric laws put in place in your country (fascist ****holes like Alabama Louisiana Georgia etc. which you're no doubt aware of) - not once. as if those laws - you know, the real problem - didn't pose a problem to you. and you really dont see how that's suspicious? -_- busted²

PS. for the catholic thing iirc it's something you said long ago in a private convo but I may have it mixed up with another forum contact who's christian (if so mea culpa)
that said I never really hid my distrust of organized religions which aren't even about worshiping a god btw
[OT] although to a christian - any christian - any other religion is heresy isn't it? you don't believe in Christ, you go to hell no ifs no buts (even if you're a devout monotheist)

There is 0 islamophobia in SR's post, the part you quoted at least. Besides, the Christian stance on abortion is just as radical as most Islam laws, so I think the comparison stands and is a good one.

Okay so this thread went sideways from the get-go, as expected, I'll supplement it with some new pieces.

Bill Gates Top 10 Predictions of breakthrough tech of 2019

                            Chaka's Industries LTD pick:
                            1 - Gut probes in a pill (mini-replicators?)
2 - Cow free burgers (beyond meat, those patties are already there, anybody tried it?)
3 - Self-cleaning toilets, without needs of sewers
4 - New-Wave Nuclear Power (fission = no HR wastes)

                            Not bad.

A poorly argued point is well...pointless. That has always been my stance, if you have a point to make, make the argument for it valid. If invalid arguments are enough then your point is deficient by its very nature. You can dance around the issue making wild assumptions based on any number of stereotypes you buy into all you want. But that changes nothing.

Are you sure? How exactly is showing Muslims in a faux-prolife pamphlet supposed to convert someone from prolife to prochoice?

with propaganda this is irrelevant what matters is how it's perceived
