Do I think someone else could have done better?
Perhaps, but that is neither here nor there. Australia has not faced a pandemic of this magnitude for a century and it is being handled well, THAT is what matters, not what party he belongs to and if you cannot see that, I pity you.
I wasn't even talking about economic issues. My initial point was that life itself is basically very unfair in many ways. And we don't even try to address many of the ways life is unfair. So if we want to address SOME ways that it is unfair, shouldn't we address all of them?
Yes, life is unfair, it grants boons and hindrances to people based on birth, but this virus (which is what we are talking about) does not CARE. The common denomiater is that we are all human, we are all susceptible no matter how much we have in our bank account. You could die tomorrow after winning the lottery, it does not care, you picked it up getting your ticket and have no chance to spend your millions.
For example, some people are born with very high intelligence. Others are born dumb as a post. Should we lobotomize those with high IQ's so that they match those that have very low IQ's? That would be fair, wouldn't it? Apply the same thing to the other attributes listed. Destroy the talent of those born with special talents. Disfigure those that are born with attractive physical features. And on and on and on. Use the power of govt. to equalize everyone. (wasn't there an old Twilight Zone episode that explored this?)
Governmental (federal) socialism has NO SAY in anything you just listed. It allows for ANYONE with or without talents (of any kind) to live with safety and dignity.
You people care so much about "life", but have a basic fundamental failure of understanding what living actually is.
What is "life" Annoyed?
Of course, that is nuts. We aren't willing to accept the imposition upon the rights of the people who would have to be "detuned" for lack of a better word. But we are perfectly willing to impose upon the rights of other people in our efforts to make life "fair" for people and groups that we choose to try to help. What a load of hypocritical BS.
Helping people requires sacrifice, ask Womble, or MG or SG, but it is the WILLINGNESS of people to do it that makes it not a sacrifice, but an honour to serve. There is your precious patriotism, an act without expecting anything in return.
You are fond of applying scientific principles. One very basic such principal is that unless a theory applies in all cases, it's not valid. Same logic applies here.
Science can be used for specific cases but not apply to all. There are very few scientific principles the are universal. My "pushing" of science is so we have a common language to work from, and that these principles have been studied, tested and proven to the best of our knowledge.
Are they "perfect"?
No, but they are the best backbone of understanding we have. You want to understand gravity? Throw yourself out of a window and ask if it's universal on the way down.
Climate Change, read or watch you damn weather reports where it's "temps we have not seen in decades"
It's not a "fluke" Annoyed, it's a pattern.
