Generally they go to transfers but, if some reason, I've downloaded something from one site to a particular folder, it memorises it and everything from that site will go to that folder. Some months after, it's hard to remember where did it go.

You could just create a folder on your desktop called 'Downloads' and set all your downloads to go there, then you'd always know where to look

I just found out that my ancient version of Paint Shop Pro doesn't support neither the Gimp nor the PS versions of the brushes, how unfortunate

The one I'm using? It came from this tut by MajorRyan. I left out some of the textures, played around with some gradients and added some lines

You don't need to - holding down the shift key keeps the line straight. Just put your pencil where you want to start then hold down the shift key as you move your pencil to where you want the line to end

I wouldn't use a nickname But you could use Annie or Belle or Bella or go with her middle name and call her Rosie...I have 2 nieces whose nicknames come from their middle names.
