service jobs in the tertiary sector are often low-paying. the U.S. economy is about 77% tertiary these days. this is a something everyone has to deal with. the high-paying secondary sector manufacturing jobs have mostly been shipped overseas for cheaper labor prices, and those that remain pay much less than they did 40-60 years ago. dual-employed families have become the norm. the standard of living has generally increased, but it takes both parents in a family to provide a comfortable life which could be provided by a single wage-earner in the 1950s and 1960s.

It's not enough that we outsourced most of our decent jobs as a result of the *AFTA deals over the past 30 years or so, but now the wizards of wall street want to import low wage workers to take the jobs that can't be outsourced. And neither major national party can bend over backwards to help them fast enough.
