Correct. Until such time as another nation developed the capability.

Fighting is part of human nature, just as much as breathing is. The only ways we will ever have protracted peace are these:
1: Humanity is wiped out.
2: There is one non-aggressive superpower that no one else on the planet has the ability to challenge on the battlefield.
And with # 2, it won't be complete peace, there will be wars as people try to challenge the king of the hill, but those wars will be short as the superpower will just swat them like flies.

Not a pleasant thought, but that is just the way that we are built.

An aggressive superpower decides to take over the entire planet & succeeds. That would also put an end to war.

After the mutual destruction, there would be nothing left to rule.

I was presuming that the aggressive superpower manages to succeed in the takeover without resorting to nukes. JUST FOR EXAMPLE, I am not suggesting this: Take China and the former Soviet Union out of the picture, and the U.S. could probably pull this off if it desired. A while back I read an estimate that just one of our carrier groups is the military superior to most other countries on this planet. While that may have been a slight exaggeration, take China and Russia out of the picture, and we could probably do it.

Here's the problem that people filled with pure stupidity just don't realize. When it comes to Mexico, a lot of what they manufacture requires inputs that have to be imported. The biggest source of those inputs is the US. There is no way a free market system can support the return of many of those manufacturing jobs (to do so would require the government strong arming businesses into producing X goods with Y number of workers at Z wages. And that's called Socialism). So if Mexican manufacturing falls, so do the American producers of said inputs.

But of course, people like Annoyed don't like facts because facts are only made by "elitists" and "fake news". Facts like, China being the number two destination for American exports and Mexico being number 3 and Japan being number 4. So if trade wars start, it will hit American exporters very hard. That's nearly half of all American exports. (Source)

Or facts like the ones posted in CATO's website (Link). Interestingly enough, CATO isn't a liberal site, it's a libertarian one. And Libertarians aren't exactly "elites" in this country. Sure, they may not know what an Aleppo is, but aside from that, they tend to have a better understanding of economics with out the reactionary tendencies of Conservatives or the socialist tendencies of liberals. It's an interesting read really, the link. It's a bit of a crash course on the subject of trade deficits. Long story short, it is not the same as a budget deficit.
