this woman wasn't a teacher...it was when I worked at GE Capital she was mowing around her kids swing set and her daughter was playing near it. She was backing up....another thing you shouldn't do with a riding mower and her daughter had fallen down she didn't see her and she backed up right over her foot. She lost most of the toes on her foot and had to have special shoes made in order to walk after that.

There's nothing wrong with backing up a riding mower.

Mine shuts off completely if the blade is on as soon as I switch to reverse. I assume some models, or older ones, don't do this.

Yeah, I think the govt. requires them to kill the engine if you try to go into reverse with the blades running.
Took all of 5 minutes to disable that stupid lockout.
