My thinking on time travel is that it's only hard and fast rule is the grandfather paradox. Hence 'if' time travel were to be possible, you could change history in every way imaginable that didn't result in your ancestors dying before they had kids or your younger self dying before you time travelled.

But the grandfather paradox isn't just applicable to you killing your ancestors, thats just the easiest thing to grasp. It applies everything, just someone from the future being in the past means that the same atoms now exist twice, energy can't be created or destroyed just change forms, but going back in time is adding more matter and hence energy to the universe.. thats breaking one of the fundamental rules of the universe.. so time travel being possible would seem to indicate that there are senarios whereby the rules of the universe can be broken, whereby you could kill all your ancestors and you would continue to exist, it might be a paradox but time travel being possible would make it so

I'd rather travel to 2010 and strangle anyone who had anything to do with SGU getting cancelled.

that bring to mind the grandfather paradox, so you stop SGU being cancelled so when your supposed to go back in time you dont because there no need to stop them cancelling it so it then is cancelled and then u do go back and it all begins
