If you didn't, then I will give one piece of advice.....make sure to see it in 3D!
I am planning on going to see it a second time because I didn't get the full effect only seeing it in 2D!.....Then again this past week has really not been going good at all for me, so I'm going to enjoy seeing it again, only this time to a different theatre where it will be in 3D!

I haven't been around lately, but was just watching this program on Nightline about Cheerleading, and how dangerous it has become: http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/chee...ory?id=9473938
Just wondering what your perspective is, considering you're training, etc., compared to these cheerleaders and coaches who - though going through extensive training - don't necessarily have any professional guidance, especially when it comes to safety.
Again, hope all is well! Take care!

If only sgu used 3d it would be a perfect... Yes PERFECT show. The 3d makes you feel like a part of the action. And it isn't the corny 3d where things pop out at you, it just makes you feel like your there!!

Hey BamBam! Qestion, any particular reason why SGU does not start back up until April? Seems like quite a break for a new show or am I missing something. I get the feeling that viewers could be lost with such a long break.....Yeh you could also say that I just want to see a new episode! My Life Motto: There are no wrong roads in life just paths that lead to unexpected Adventures.

Spoiler:I'm more dedicated to sgu than avatar

I'm still working on my dad for sgu. He hates the stones and the slowness of the plot and the drama. But he said he looooooooovvvvvvvvveed time and the premier, so he still watches it with me.

Avatar was the first movie for a long time that completely kept me inside the movie, without a distraction. I really enjoyed it.....well....there was one distraction. My wife had to get up, and go to the bathroom in the middle of the film....in a over crowded theater....I came back to Earth for about a second, and a half.
This cold snap over here is reported to last at least another week...here's hoping u can get over to Birmingham OK!!

Originally posted by 2BAM View PostWow. I watched the link, and I am shocked, and saddened. Unfortunately, the bar of performance is now being set so high that the new participants in any sport are required to do things that the people before them wouldn't even consider. This "one upmanship" has continued for years. In the case of the cheerleaders, they are not supposed to be hitting the ground, so the injuries are accidents. Pushing the envelope is tempting to everyone at high levels of sports. In my particular aspect of athletics, and business, we are required to make contact with the ground....not only the ground, but the cement, at times. On a regular basis. Injuries are expected, but measures are taken to protect against them happening on a regular basis, or preventing them from being severe. In the stunt world, the new generation has learned from the mistakes, injuries, and deaths of the past stuntmen/women. The safety factor has improved throughout the years, and not the other way around, although the talent factor has increased. I hope that video pieces like this one.....or experiences like many of them described on the video, make people think about changing the way things are done. Listening to the comments from some of the parents is horrible. The parents saying that breaking their child's arm is acceptable???!!! What planet it that from? Stunt People are professionals, paid to take risks, and accept what happens when things may not go as planned because of any number of reasons. That is their job. That is what they signed up for. They are adults, in the large risk stunt positions. There are some stunt kids, but what is expected of them is far less dangerous........The parents, the coaches, and the kids need to re-think what they are doing, and how they are doing it. That's it. Thank you for bringing that to my attention, but I won't be watching it again. Tragic.
It's a shame that someone in your profession can't get involved somehow. Not sure what cheerleading is like in Canada - if it's like it is in the States, or if the US is unique in the way cheerleaders are pushed to perform stunts, when they are just really kids with little or no professional training. I do think that these coaches get away with pushing kids like this because they know kids think themselves invincible, and their drive to succeed and best their peers keeps them from questioning what is asked of them. But I also blame parents for putting too much trust in these cheerleading coaches and even their own kids - parents should be questioning the safety of these tricks and stunts. But most won't - they want their kids to be the best, too.
And you bring out a good point - in your profession you train how to fall. These kids aren't trained like that - they are only trained how to do the stunt, with little precaution taken if the stunt goes wrong. And even if they do use mats or other safety devices during practice, they certainly don't use them during an actual performance, where pressure to outdo the other squad may make them push harder, leading to more severe injuries if they do fall.
I'm glad I brought it to your attention, and I certainly understand your not wanting to watch the video twice. Your input has made me appreciate even more how seriously you take your profession, and how much you respect the need to do things the right way to prevent severe injury. The human should never be sacrificed for the sake of the stunt.
Thanks again!
