yeah, but wouldnt it be cool to give them the ability to destroy mothersips and not just other fighters. cus if we give them a mini version of asgard beams then they would be able to hang in a fight a little longer and maybe, if we can make them strong eneough while keeping them small, destroy motherships or at least tax and weaken the shields a little.

There are so many pieces of technology that haven't been used to their full potential.
      Take the Asgard Matter Convertors.
At the moment we don't really have a fleet of ships, only 3 ships, we could build an off-world base (so that it can be kept secret from Earth's population) and construct huge heavily shielded ship yards, with large scale Matter Convertors, maybe a dozen or so and start churning out loads of ships.
In the time it took for carter to make her Chello we could have a dozen ships and in a week thousands.

We could use large Matter Convertors to make orbital defence sattelites for Earth and make a planetary shield, I know that you'd need massive quantities of energy for a field that big, but if you had a few hundred emitors or more I reckon it would work.

It's true that we don't really have any enemies in the Milky Way at the moment but all the more reason to prepare for a time when we do.
We still don't know what's gonna happen with the Wraith
      Spoiler:
or this new race that's gonna be introduced in the SGA Season 5 two parter and Enemy At The Gate.

The Wraith may learn the location of Atlantis or a way to get to Earth so we would need a big fleet to take them on.

Naquadriah - I seem to remember it was too unstable to use in previous SG-1 episodes but maybe in a liquid form it might be more stable?

Our fighters can already blow up motherships.

What a naquadah-enhance nuke can do for you . . . now there's an underused technology.

that might only work for hives and they have to be very close to the ship so it wont get intercepted by darts and then if you hit the hive and it blows the blast wave will most likely destroy your fighter.

also as seen in the first season, a naquada enhanced nuke wont do any good against hat'aks because of their shields. the only effective wepon we have is the beam wepons which is why we should minatureize them and mount them on the 302s. it would make the fighter much more effective.

Agreed while the strength of the weapons would probaly be less then that on the 304s it would still be of great help. Alpha site would be able to protect itself better just launch a bunch of 302s.

naquadah reactors are another piece of unexploited tech. The Goa'uld do loads with theirs but we simply build little portable ones.

                    Personal Infantry supersoldier armor like:

                    1. The Kull armor
                    2. Ancient Personal shields etc

Remember Our ships Kick Ass but we have difficulty on the ground

I was thinking on this a bit more.

I reckon shield & hyperdrive tech, coz we could build long range hyperdrive capable missiles (if anyone asked, yes like dreadnaught in Voyager).
Their shields could activate the moment they drop out of hyperspace near their target, could be controlled via subspace so they can't be tampered with before completing their mission and failsafes could be put in place so that if they loose contact with Earth or Atlantis they self distruct in a safe location away from any worlds.

Shields could also be used on missiles launched against enemy ships such as hives so that they can't shoot them down.

We also need to start using efficient asgard shield emitors on our outpost, powered off of asgard ion generators.

The Unas can only mine so much .

As for 302s, while you guys are right that railguns would be better, 302s already dominate Goa'uld & Wraith fighters.

Naq reactors are already capable of powering Battlecruisers and the Chair.

Naquadriah being so unstable would probably only be good for a bomb, but since the Horizon can already essentially destroy a continent how much bigger would we need?

Your kidding right?! We own on the ground, its in space we have issues. Not now we got the unending stuff but go back a couple of seasons and in space we sucked. On the ground, we absolutely own. roughly 300 soldiers took down the entirety of the Goauld...when we deploy sufficent manpower there amount of damage we can do is huge. Take stronghold, they were able to take out a pretty sizable force of baal's soldiers. Against the replicators nobody was as effective as we were, nobody, even the ancients and the asgard couldnt do better against them. In all of stargates history it has been our ground troops which have been the supreme backbone of the tauri position in the galaxy. IF we committed our full service military. With SGC level equipment, we would have the largest and most effective ground force in the galaxy without fail. At no point have we been outgunned as it were. Our weapons have been proved to be better than jaffa and goauld (the warrior) the only reason we ever fail to take down whole armies is because there are usually only 4 people involved. When we use back up, the odds of us winning are very much increased go back to S2 when we stormed hathors place...

Our ground forces are our most exploited and biggest asset.
