it really kills me that the writers chose to go for the asgard tech instead of having us upgrading our technology by reverse engineering that cargo ship.
They killed off the Asgard, so we lost our most powerful allies. Asgard weapons are way more powerful than anyway we could ever make or get off the worms. Asgard shields are the same white/blue color as the Ori, so we have presumably the most powerful shields on top of that.
Has any one considered the possibility that the plasma weapon that was designed to fail after a single shot (“Bounty”) was of Hebridan origin?
It had the same green color as their weaponry & we did have trade relations with them until they fell to the Ori.
If this were the case then it would explain why they did not incorporate this weapon into the 302’s as it proved ineffectual against the main antagonist of the show (the Ori).
The precedent has already been set for alien tech we have “acquired” being passed off to the scientific community/general public as technology we created from scratch our selves (Chimera comes to mind), so why would this be any different?
I would not have brought it up in this thread if the weapon had not already been mentioned.
Me: “I just wanted to take the Staten Island Ferry…I wasn’t expecting the extraordinary rendition.”
*Three DHS guys dressed in black pop out of nowhere. * DHS: “NOBODY EVER EXPECTS THE EXTRAORDINARY RENDITION!!!” DHS: “Our chief weapons are shock-n-awe, enhanced interrogation techniques, and the suspension of habeas corpus.”

It could be but we dont know for sure. It could be out own weapon. Just because it is the same color doesn't mean that it is definetly hebridan. You still could be right.

Ori shields are pure white. So we're not quite there yet. It seems the spectrum goes:
WEAK
- Red/Orange (Goa'uld)
- Yellow/Orange (Upgraded Goa'uld/Early Earth ships)
- Yellow (Anubis'/Aurora-class)
- Bluish-White (Asgard/Replicator/Late Earth ships/Atlantis (in most scenes)
- White (Ori/Atlantis (in some scenes) STRONG
"- Bluish-White (Asgard/Replicator/Late Earth ships/Atlantis (in most scenes)
- White (Ori/Atlantis (in some scenes)"
Are you sure? I thought they were all the same color? May be due to special effects? For instance, Atlantis does have the most powerful shields.
If you are right, then the Ori have the most powerful shields in existence. According to an official magazine I read on this site, Ori shields absorb all fire directed at them and redirect that into increasing shield strength.
So no wonder the ZPM had to be nearly depleted to stop an Ori ship and it was not destroyed either! Think of how many drones it took! So that would make sense since Ori shields are the most powerful. Luckily for the Odyssey they have a ZPM.
But Annubis ship was way more powerful than an Aurora.
Didn't his ship destroy a planet with its main weapon? Of course it does not appear he can direct that at a moving target. But his ship destroyed many ships with 1 shot.
Annubis ship had the most powerful weapon ever built.

It isnt just the color/wavelength of a sheild that shows its strength. Its also the power, stabillity, and efficency. The more power the longer the sheild could hold damage. The more stable the sheild is the least a chance that there will be a weak spot. The more efficent the sheilds are the least power the sheilds use over all and that contributes to how much power a sheild has. Atlantis could have 3 Zpms alot of power making it have the best sheilds. Anubis had the eyes to power the weapon but it didnt say anything about them powering any thing else. That is why an aurora has alot better sheilds then most earth ships maybe even equivelent to the odyssey.

Just... no. Anubis' ship managed to take on 8 Ha'taks. Color me impressed. The destruction of Abydos is still disputed and it was weird to the point where we aren't sure how to do it.

It's a weapon designed by a space faring race thousands of years more advanced than us, I'm sure it can handle a moving target.

Earlier on the forums it was disputed that the shield strength were indicated by shield color. But for the most part its too hard to determine, the Beliskner had yellow shields, but a single one could manage to destroy a Gould fleet, and the Prometheus in Lost city withstood more than what a yellow shielded Hatak could take. The Aurora is more powerful then the color indicated by its shields. You could argue in the Aurora's defense that shield color grows weaker on the EM field as it becomes more depleted, but its never been shown. I'd say for the most part its not very effective to determine shield strength, weapons fire maybe a totally new question though.

Anubis's mother ship was only powerful because in comparison to all his adversaries the was superior, and he was lugging around a huge WMOD that could have been originally made by the Ancients, (the Gould were no where near the level of technology to make the eyes and the weapon needed to fire it).
