I think of Advanced as being increasingly better, faster, and more secure ways to do the same old thing. Would you rather drive for a whole week from New York to California or be teleported there instantly? Hence the stargate. It's just that convenient and you don't have to waste any supplies getting there.
Exactly! The Stargate was an excellent tool at their disposal. Why not use that technology? And as for the Ori ships, man did they kick some serious butt or what?

Maybe those blue balls are minature stars that power the Ori ships...

The stargate may simply be cheaper. The Gou'ald had hyperdrives, and fast ones for system-to-system travel, but still used the Gates extensively. Also, maybe the Gate is considered simpler because if they have a super-insane hyperdrive that is better than Asgard hyperdrives, and we knock out or capture a ship (slim chance, but maybe we get lucky), then we have that hyperdrive for ourselves. Also, a Supergate makes it easier to keep your fleet in line, since they have no way out of enemy territory unless you let them out.

Originally the component parts of the supergate could fit through a normal stargate. But when Sam was standing on of the component parts... it was much larger than what could've fitted through a StarGate. Not to mention that the components which used to be the size of a Tel'Tac now appears to be as big as an Al'Kesh.
Well, remember that the Stargate's diameter is 22 feet. In Beachhead, those pods comin' out of the Gate were slightly thinner in width than the Gate's diameter. Which means that each pod is approximately 21.5ft wide, and that was about the scale I got seeing Sam pressed up against it.

Also in Beachhead, Sam surmised that the diameter of the Supergate was between three and four hundred feet. So on the small-end of the spectrum, a Supergate is 300m. in diameter, and on the large-end of the spectrum, they're 400m.

Really there would be no limit to the size of a Supergate, because you just keep sending pods through until you get the size you want.

There is NO WAY those pods could fit through a gate, and they're far bigger than 21ft. Didn't you see how large they were? They were as big as an Al'Kesh. Unless.... the pods are able to expand it's size...

Remeber this old special-effect that we no longer see? Such as the Goa'uld/Jaffa helmets being able to expand and contract. The pod-expansion could happen. Afterall this would be Ancient tech which the Goa'uld couldve figured out after finding some remnants.

In the sg1 season 9 finale it doesn't look like the Ori ships have advanced hyperdrive capabilities matching the asgard. In fact it seems as if the Ori concentrated their technology in shielding and weapons. They simply used their knowledge of gate physics and utilized a supergate for transportation to other galaxies. I think it signals that the Ori stopped advancing technologically once the ancients left for the MW. Their ship design is markedly different also. Lets bring the Orion to the MW galaxy and see it go one on one against the Ori ships and see what effect the drones and the Orion weapons have against it.
