Yeah, sorta the same thing I said below

The only thing remotely close might be the clothing the characters wore in "Brief Candle," but maybe the BBT writers didn't expect SG fans to pick it apart

They might not be referencing any episode in particular, I mean it's not like it's important for the line or anything...

Yeah I'm gunna have to agree. O'Neill aging rapidly and the 100 day society living longer doesn't relate to the situation the Big Bang Theory presented.
I think they just needed a SciFi reference or maybe one of the writers always wanted a Stargate reference. But really, they could have brought it up in a more sensible way.

I thought of Brief Candle for the more literal part of Sheldon's comment on "a culture based loosely on Earth Athens and Sparta?" not the tactical retreat portion of his comment.

Team Stargate Worlds Initiates First Test of the Season

Buttonwillow, CA March 4, 2009: A little less than a week after announcing its formation Team Stargate Worlds completed its first test of the season with drivers Frankie Muniz and Simona De Silvestro. The cars made their debut at the team’s home track of Buttonwillow Raceway. The 1.374-mile track provided a full day’s worth of testing as well as an opportunity for both drivers to get acquainted to their new Team Stargate Worlds surroundings ...

I don't believe it was Brief Candle. There was no need for a tactical retreat, the planet Argos was peaceful.

My first thought was that it is The Game, SGA s315, but there was no 'tactical retreat'.

Or maybe even Emancipation (sg1 sx03) or New Ground (3x19), or Memento (6x20) (my first SG-1 thought which didn't really make sense..) or The Fifth Man (5x04 which suits the situation but not really the culture).

It could also be Icon (8x05) (another very likely one), Condemned (sga 2x05), The Tower (sga 215 again doesn't really make sense..).

After thinking about it, I don't believe any episode actually matches Athens/Sparta, rather they just bear similarities, and the writers decided to reference Stargate (hence the analytical Sheldon not specifying which series of Stargate or even the episode title).

The Game is probably the best match as per culture.

Local restores country’s oldest Catalina 30

                          by Neil Judson

Squamish – A local boat enthusiast is putting Canada’s oldest Catalina 30 sailboat back where it belongs on Saturday (March 7), after spending about 18 months restoring it on his Garibaldi Highlands driveway.

Although Boyd Godfrey had never restored a sailboat before, his skills at work paid off over several weekends at home. As a graphics co-ordinator for MGM Television Canada, Godfrey has been designing and constructing film sets for the science fiction series Stargate for the last 13 years.

“We build spaceships. There’s nothing that we do at work that isn’t applicable to this, from moulding plastics to shearing metals, woodwork, paint, fibreglass – everything we do is applicable to this,” he said.

“It started out just to be a bit of a major cosmetic restoration and turned into a major refit. It just sort of snowballed. I’m one of those poor *******s who can’t leave it well enough alone.”

... Its first test comes on Saturday (March 7) when high tide hits around 1 p.m. Visit the website at www.catalinathirty.com.

With the team announcement and unveiling a couple of weeks ago, a newly redesigned website, the addition of new crew members and a recent test session at Buttonwillow Raceway, the team showed no signs of fatigue as they arrived for the first Atlantic Championship series test at the 2.034 mile Palm Beach International Raceway road course.
