Hey, Sci-Fi's capable of doing anything. So in a way, this was kind of believeable for a minute or two.

In addition, deals are currently working out to bring back ECW for a three-times a week run in prime time, as well as reruns (Pre-WWE) of professional wrestling events.

SurgeTV hopes to tap into the newfound audience of science fiction wrestling fans, by promoting cross-over programming, including Eureka's Colin Ferguson's guest appearance in the ECW ring, and Season 2 of Stan Lee's Who Wants To Be A Superhero to include ring matches between competitors. Saucier, racier stories will be aired after the midnight hour, and in a change for the popular channel, may include R-rated material.

While much of the original programming the SCI FI Channel has produced will remain on air through the next year, SurgeTV expects sweeping changes to the network, shifting away from the so-called "nerd" demographic. This means that SurgeTV will try to appeal to it's growing number of "extreme" viewers by removing all of it's current re-run programming and replacing it with a new "brand" - Xtreme Surge At Night. Effective November 1, 2006, SurgeTV will begin broadcasting reruns of Hogan Knows Best and original WWE programming. Filling out the early morning hours will be the ground-breaking American (English language channel) debut of Lucha Libre sporting events."
Thanks for posting it. Funny stuff like this needs to be immortalized

                Good God, this isn't true.

i think what made it so plausible - other than colin in the ring of course - is given teh crapfest that skiffy likes to promote - for the record i think wrestling is the most stupid waste of time in the world. and their other 'stellar' programming on saturday nights

along with their 'let's capture the youth market' tactics, upping the T&A, more bombs and explosions, etc

it actually seemed plausible. given their lust for the buck, i can see bonnie turning skiffy into redneck tv. I'm rather surprised that 'reality channel' hasn't premiered yet, 24/7 of nothing but 'reality' shows

Who Wants to be a Superhero isn't reality tv?

We'll know SciFi's truly tanked the day Jerry Springer is on the channel. Which wouldn't be that surprising, knowing SciFi.

                        Oh my....

One of the reasons why I watch SciFi is the name: I know what to expect!
                        And I HATE wrestling.

SciFi Fans know which channel to tune into. I wonder how many Surge fans there are.

Heh. I kind of wish it were true. I actually expect to see scifi on the SciFi Channel and since they don't really want to show us any scifi, much less any quality scifi [with a few exceptions], then they really should change their name. That way, I won't keep getting my hopes up that there might actually be some good scifi out there that I want to watch.

                            Sigh.

Regardless of whether or not the article is a hoax, almost everything in it is true.
                              1. SciFi is slowly scrapping all of it's, well, SciFi shows.
                              2. SciFi has put wrestling shows in the prime time blocks.
                              3. SciFi has publically stated things that are almost exactly like what is written in this fake article. They want to dump the image they have.

They might as well change the name of the station to something else, because it sure as hell ain't the SciFi channel any more.

oh yeah, and why do we still have this: ? I move that we remove this topic icon!
Oh snap. You're reading a really old post.
