STARGATE BURBANK CONVENTION - Nov 2008

      From Creation email

      STARGATE BURBANK CONVENTION:
NEW GUEST, NEW TICKETS, NEW WORKSHOP ANNOUNCED!

The Official STARGATE SG-1/ATLANTIS CONVENTION is coming to Burbank,
California on November 21 to 23, 2008 and we're rolling out the red carpet for
      you
with today's addition of a new guest, all the tickets put on sale, and a
      super-cool acting workshop presented.

      Here's the scoop:

Our guest list so far is pretty cool:

      RACHEL LUTTRELL
      STARGATE ATLANTIS Teyla Emmagan

      ALEXIS CRUZ
STARGATE SG-1s Skaara; also appeared in Touched By an Angel, Shark, and
      American Family (Appearing Saturday)

      KAVAN SMITH
STARGATE ATLANTIS Major Evan Lorne; THE 4400s Jed Garrity

and today we are adding one of the most fun guests ANY convention could have:
DAN SHEA, Sgt. Siler in both SG-1 and Atlantis. Dan is also Richard Dean
Anderson's stunt double, and stunt coordinator for STARGATE: SG-1 & he also does
stunts for STARGATE: ATLANTIS. He has also performed stunts for genre feature
films RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, FANTASTIC FOUR and
I-ROBOT. Best of all, Dan is one of the nicest guests any convention could hope
for! Dan will appear on stage SATURDAY of the convention and participate in the
convention cabaret too (in a hilarious turn!)

We also are offering up for sale today at the site a special ALEXIS CRUZ
ACTING WORKSHOP where Mr. Cruz will teach a limited group of students for a two
hour period of 9am to 11am on Saturday morning. This is a rare chance to spend
time learning from a talented gentleman whose acting we've all enjoyed in shows
like Touched by An Angel, Shark, American Family and, of course, Stargate
SG-1. Alexis has blown our audiences away at our cabaret shows (which he will
also be doing in Burbank): he truly is a wonderfully gifted performer.

Finally, in response to many fans' requests, we are also offering up ALL THE
VARIOUS TICKETING OPTIONS for the convention early so fans can lock in their
plans. We have a price range for everyone so everyone can come and see the
stars and events they love. Come on down for less than $25 a day and see SEVEN
HOURS of stars, events, contests, vendors and entertainment based on the series
we love. We think The Official STARGATE SG-1/ATLANTIS Conventions are one of
the best live entertainment bargains around and if you've been to a movie,
concert, or other live show lately we just know you'll agree that bang for the
buck: the convention is delivering big-time. We like musical concerts too, but
$200 a ticket for a two hour show to be a mile away: give us a break!!!

And, probably the coolest extra thing: we are doing TWO other fan conventions
in the hotel the same weekend for FIREFLY/SERENITY and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
which means that ANYONE ATTENDING ANY OF THE THREE CONVENTIONS can pick up
photo ops from any of the attending stars from any event, and autographing will
      be
open and purchasable to anyone, and for those GOLD WEEKEND from any of the
three shows the exclusive GOLD DESSERT PARTY and SUNDAY BREAKFAST will have
STARS F! ROM ALL THREE FRANCHISES.

This weekend is going to be wild: so circle the dates for us now: NOVEMBER
21-23, 2008 at The Burbank Airport Marriott (where they just opened a new
mini-mall filled with fast food restaurants in a short block or two walk from
      the
      convention).

He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe: Volume 2 DVD Review
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 06.05.2008

          Excerpt:

The most interesting development in the second half of season 1 is the introduction of the Snake Men in episode 21, "Snake Pit", in a story that also features the first appearance of Zodak (played by Stargate: SG-1's Teal'c, Christopher Judge) in the series. This is definitely one of the best episodes of the season, and it paves the way for the reappearance of the Snake Men and King Hiss later on.

By the late 1980s, a relatively complete performing version of Grieg's original score was completed, with a narrative part adapted by American actor John de Lancie - better known to TV viewers as the nefarious "Q" on "Star Trek: Next Generation" and Frank Simmons on "Stargate SG-1." A shorter version of this one, complete with surtitles, was finished in the late 1990s. Mr. Ashkenazy, again with Mr. de Lancie as narrator, brought this version to the Kennedy Center this week. They were joined by baritone Sergei Leiferkus as Peer; by Twyla Robinson, Marnie Mosiman, Adalsteinn Einarsson, Brendan M. Curran, Melissa L. Coombs, Vanessa L. Bond and Erin M. Firnhaber in additional roles; and by the Master Chorale of Washington.

                        Press Release

Federation Convention Comes to America in June

                        06/09/2008

European Sci fi convention makes it's debut in the US.

For the first time since its inception in May of 1992 the wildly popular European science fiction event called Federation Convention (FedCon) will be held in Germany and in the United States. FedCon is a unique event that gives the fans an opportunity to interact with their favorite sci fi stars by asking questions, posing for photographs, attending autograph sessions, parties, and more. This year’s inaugural event will take place in Dallas, Texas on the 13-15 of June at the Hyatt Regency DFW hotel.

An eclectic gathering of stars from popular sci fi films and TV shows past and present will come together for what is shaping up to be a unforgettable weekend for sci fi fans from around the globe. Among the rooster of some 30 special guest that are expected to attend the 3 day convention are fan favorites like Connor Trinner ("Trip" Tucker from Star Trek Enterprise), Paul McGillion (Dr. Carson Beckett from Stargate Atlantis), Gigi Edgley (Chiana from Farscape), Lindsey McKeon (IQ-145 and Tessa from Supernatural), and Garrett Wang (Ensign Kim from Star Trek Voyager). Guest author Lawrence Johnson will be signing copies of the hit 2012 novel Escape 2 Earth. Other guests include Brad Rowe (IQ-145 Agent Hopper and National Treasure 2), and Shane Felux Executive Producer of Star Wars: Revelations.

Convention goers can spend the weekend attending workshops, costumed events, parties, and autograph sessions or shop at the dealer’s tables in hopes of picking up a bargain or two. A game room and a model and art room will also be available. You don’t have to be a Trekkie to enjoy this convention. Science fiction fans from across the spectrum should find something to smile about at FedCon.
Attempting to duplicate the success of its European counterpart is a tall order. FedCon USA really has its work cut out for them. Will the more fan friendly convention style work here in the US? Only time will tell.

                            Written by Kevin Loring
                            Directed by Glynis Leyshon

                            excerpt:

But Loring has some things to learn about structuring a play. Where the Blood Mixes meanders, and the stakes are not high
                            enough to
keep the interest up. His exposition is often clumsy; the residential-school
issue is introduced by bartender George (Tom McBeath) when he comes across an
article about compensation from the government in the paper and says something
along the lines of, "Hey guys, have you heard about this?" (Poor McBeath has
a rather thankless role as the play's token shama - a derogatory Salish word
for white that is tossed around a lot in the play.)

Tara Reid to Star in Killer Snake Movie ‘Vipers’

Published by wil June 10th, 2008 in NEWS and DVD RELEASES.

Didn’t director Bill Corcoran listen to Uwe Boll? Tara Reid is the only reason why Alone in the Dark sucked. So why would he want her in his new film, Vipers? She will only muck it up. Maybe it is because her breasts look like they were already bitten by a snake and they could save some money on the SFX. Plus she can’t cost that much, could she?

Corcoran is teaming up with the man who brought us Scarecrow Gone Wild (sadly the better of the three Scarecrow films), to release Vipers on DVD September 23rd. It also stars a bunch of actors from Stargate SG-1.

                                Synopsis:

When some genetically enhanced vipers are released during a break-in at a medical research laboratory, it results in plenty of slithery problems in this terror tale. As the sinister snakes eat everything in their path and reproduce at an alarming rate, a group of locals trapped in a hotel on an isolated island tries to escape.
