Erica Durance's Lois Lane is getting a superhero boyfriend this fall
on CW's Smallville (premiering Sept. 28 at 8 pm/ET). And while he's
tall and handsome, you'll never see him wearing a red cape.

their true feelings, Durance knows that in real life she's already
been struck by Cupid's arrow. She and actor David Palffy (Blade: The
Series), having met three years ago while filming an episode of
Stargate SG-1, wed in January 2005. "We're quite a team," Durance
gushes. "I feel very lucky. We share a lot of the same interests. I'm
very opposite to Lois in that I'm nonconfrontational. Let's make

Mili Avital plays 'Lear's' Cordelia on her terms

Mili Avital's last attempt at making her American stage debut ended badly. In fact, it ended before it began.

The Israel-born actress, whose film work includes the sci-fi favorite "Stargate," "Kissing a Fool" and Jim Jarmusch's "Dead Man," was scheduled to act in a play at the Mark Taper Forum, but she dropped out while the play was still in rehearsals.

She still encounters fans who recall her work in "Stargate" and demand to know why she didn't do the TV series, "Stargate SG-1."

"I get the weird fans," Avital says, "Either the science-fiction fans or the Jim Jarmusch fanatics who have ëDead Man' posters on their walls.

In that latter film, an existential Western, Avital played the love interest to an actor who has pursued an enviable course: one Johnny Depp.

Timeless Destinations: The Longest Morning

Two weeks ago, it was the Television Critics Association’s Summer Press Tour. Last week, it was Comic-Con International: San Diego. This week, it’s British Columbia’s Timeless Destinations. And just like the events/conventions before it, Now Playing is onsite to blog about the happenings.

What can I say? We were a little wired. We were pretty excited about this trip. We’ve done the Comic-Con and pop culture con circuit for years, but it was mainly for work and booth duty, so there was very little time to relax. This time was going to be for fun. Timeless Destinations had a really strong list of science fiction names lined up, like Michael Shanks from Stargate SG-1 and Richard Hatch of Battlestar Galactica, but the one we were stoked about was the Lexx reunion.

They were all made by relatively unknown Canadian directors. Almost all of them generated buzz, awards and positive reviews on the film festival circuit.

And most of them could not find a distributor who would put them in Canadian theatres.

In the case of Zacharia, actor and co-producer Colin Cunningham can't even find anyone who will put his film in a video store in the country
