... And the episode did a good job of mixing in good jokes about Chuck trying to play spy without actually making him look a fool. He screws up with the gun, but his clumsy foot pursuit of Busgang is funny because they're both limping, and Chuck's too inexperienced to realize that he should have pretended to tie his shoe and not his cast foot.

Speaking of Busgang, Hey, It's That Guy! Hall of Fame inner circler Robert Picardo wasn't the kind of guest star who made it easy for NBC to promote ("Guest-starring the holographic doctor from 'Star Trek: Voyager'! You may also know him as the gym coach from 'The Wonder Years'! Or that older doctor on 'China Beach'! Or..."), but like so many of this year's guests, he's so familiar and so well-cast that the writers didn't have to waste a lot of time building a character for him. You see him (working without his occasional toupee) as a government scientist and you go, "Okay, I know what this guy's about." And that leaves a lot more room for bits of business with characters we care about, like Casey actually appreciating Chuck's pointer about the hors d'oeuvres.

BINDI Irwin's film debut in the fourth installment of emotional tale, Free Willy: South Africa, will skip cinemas and go straight to DVD.

The daytime Emmy Award winning youngster stars as Kirra in the direct-to-DVD film, a young Australian girl who is reluctantly sent to live with her grandfather, played by Beau Bridges, in Cape Town, South Africa.

The 10-year-old daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin has spent the past five weeks in Cape Town filming the tale, which will release on DVD in 2010 ...

Robert Picardo Gives Us A Piece Of His Mind

Last month I was given the opportunity to do a sit down interview with actor Robert Picardo who, while perhaps best known to genre fans for his role as the Doctor in Star Trek: Voyager and Richard Woolsey in Stargate has, a huge number of credits spanning movies, television and theatre. SciFiPulse last spoke with Bob back in 2007, and asked him numerous questions about his approach to acting and who his acting heroes were.

... Another character that Picardo has played is Richard Woolsey, who, over the course of Stargate SG 1 and Atlantis, underwent an incredible transformation. It’s a role Picardo reveals he had doubts about when it came to him becoming a series regular.

“When [producer] Joe Mallozzi called me and asked, ‘how do you feel about taking over the Atlantis expedition?’ I was of two minds, “ he reveals. “I told him, ‘I love working on the show with you guys and the cast – it’s great fun to do it – but with what we’ve set up with the Woolsey character. I don’t quite see how he could step into the leadership position.’

“First of all we’ve gotten certain comic mileage in the past from the fact that Woolsey has very bad people skills.” Picardo expands. “More importantly, he doesn’t seem very brave and is out and out cowardly in some situations.

“The more I thought about it, the more I thought ‘Let’s turn the problem around’, and I began to see how interesting a challenge it is to take someone whose primarily role has been to evaluate the leadership of others. Woolsey knows enough about the rule-book and all that to come in and question other people’s command decisions, and measure what they did versus what protocol stipulates what they should have done. How they may have been reckless, how they may have indeed saved the life of a crewman, but endangered everyone else on the base in so doing. So he was a type that came in and said, ‘Even though it turned out well, you made this mistake. You took this chance. You risked this possible outcome.’ ...

Warner Premiere has announced the start of production on "Free Willy : South Africa", with filming that commenced on February 23 for five weeks in Cape Town, South Africa. The announcement was made by Diane Nelson, President, Warner Premiere.

... Beau Bridges plays Gus, Kirra’s curmudgeonly grandfather. A Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actor with a career spanning five decades, Bridges has most recently appeared in the hit television shows ‘Stargate SG-1’ and ‘The Agency.’
