Stargate Atlantis Hallway Light prop Replica

Hello Folks! its been a while, hope all of you are doing well.*

as you may or may not know i am a big fan of Stargate Atlantis Set Design. Last year i built a 4ft Replica of chicklet lights that one was a lot of fun building. But this hallway light has been on top of my list for a very long time. This one is more complex, bigger and simply put more beautiful, so finally i have started to tackle this 92" tall beast (cut the size down to around 80"approx) Will keep you guys updated as i make more progress.*

So far i have gotten the materials and drawn a rough blueprint of the design. Started to cut some plywood... will keep you guys appraised of the progress

    Replica Dimensions (approx) = 80'' x 22'' x 10''
Color = Brown or light brown
    Total # of lights = 9 Crystals*
Light Source will be = LED*RGB

    ---------------------

Here are few pictures of The light on the set..

    Blueprint

    Finally started....

Alright guys ! Finally got over my cold and spent this Saturday working on the light!

Started on the frame - the box !

Even tough I Used screws and glue to make the box but dropped some more glue on the joints, just let the glue sip in , It makes the joints stronger.*
You can never have it strong enough!. This is trick has always worked for me....

    Inner support
    Added two small supports*

    The top box...

So after finishing the box - I did some math and realized the block placement is not going to work because the entire thing ended up being too tall...so I had to cut it down and make it a little smaller...

Cut the height down a little...

Started making out the block placement..
    (messed up on this one)

Took deep breath and a cup of tea! Finally drew out the correct block placement.
Marked out the lines with some tape..

Did some more measurements on the inner blocks, the outer blocks edge..

Next is cutting the blocks...and deciding on the block depth.... Hopefully will get some more done tomorrow...

Did a little bit of work this evening, last time I had glued one of the side profile blocks they are all nice and dry. the side has become very strong.

So today I Glued down the top blocks for that side, and let them sit overnight..

          View form top...

          Side profile glued down...

Will glue the other side profile tomorrow.....

                Finished all the blocks...
Next will be the top and the smaller lights that will go onto the light....

                Glued the side blocks..

                Glued the top part...

All the blocks are glued down...

Spend about 4 hours today measuring the smaller inner blocks, cut some and glued on some..

Next will be making on the top piece...the one that holds two crystals, it will be tricky because as of right now I haven't been able to find a viable alternative to acrylic....might have to go to a glass shop and see how much will it be to get the top two crystals cut...

So Finally it's time to make the small chicklet box...this build will need two of these with the Three crystals and one..with two crystals...so first I will tackle the one that needs three crystals...

cut out a small plywood.. About 8 1/2"....
The side panels on a 45*degree angle
The top two pieces are flat with the spots for crystals Pre-cut before glueing together...

Tip - when cutting the plywood for one...you should Draw out the cut outs kinda make a copy of all the pieces on a solid piece of plywood... if the cut outs work out the result is good once glued up.....all u will need is a template of those pieces to make another copy...

                      Very first test..
It fits good jut had be glued far apart a little...to make it more wider..

                      Glued the chicklet up...!

Next will Be filling it up with wood filler....and squaring up all the edges once it drys up..

                          Thanks

It just takes a lot of patience....sometime I rush because I just want to rush and finish it...but I try to hold back cus sometimes rush can ruin the entire project..
