and i think a US 8 is a UK 6, so just add two to the UK size to get the US size

i think it's revenge for the whole metric thing. If i weigh 125 american pounds, i weigh what? over 200 kilos isn't it? Isnt' a kilo about half a pound or 3/4 a pound?

I don't know. Nobody I know uses kilos to measure except in supermarkets where they have to. *shrugs* I use stones and pounds and ounces...
