Problems with a GateWorld Ad? - Provide Ad DETAILS

If the ads really really bug you, check the firefox site for a really good ad blocker (I'm not telling you its name, if you want it, you'll find it). Disloyal to the site? Perhaps, but until you get less intrusive ads I really couldn't give a damn.

Now, if only someone could invent an add-on that clicked ads without people ever being aware of them, that would be the best solution. The site would get the money and the user an experience without ads.

well even if some people did block the ads. there are plenty of people that come on gw to make up for it.

the guests and the other members that don't block anything . i have only the top ads blocked (the flash ads ) the text ads work along with the smaller ads.

take a look at the earlier posts in this thread you are talking about adblock plus and g-file updater( somehting like that)

I do occasionally visit some of my favorite sites with IE7 and click on every google ad in sight, to make up for it.

I've been having a problem with the site loading tonight. It loads the blue background and the 4400 ad and then sits there and takes awhile to load the rest of the page. The difference between tonight and the previous slow loading forum delays is at the bottom of my browser it says reading (or connecting, etc) to speed.pointroll.com.

I get the same problem as Thunderstorm does. The ad takes forever to load and holds up the forum load behind it. I've had to close the window and open a new one to lose particularily annoying ads.

I know the ads support GW, and I don't begrudge that, but the Bionic Woman ad slows down access to the site. It doesn't hurt opening up the main menu, but opening up posts now takes forever (and this is on cable and high speed access). Please tell me these ads will go away once the darned series starts up (which no, I won't watch, as I'm sick of retreaded shows).

There's this one Adult Swim advertisement, and for the life of me, I can't see why it would be appropriate.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's one with the two cats and they're uh.... doing things.

I agree, I definitely dislike that add. Mind you not for moral purposes, but simply because it is disturbing.

havent seen it, but the Nin9s one which pops out and covers half the screen every time you click my controls or scroll up is seriously annoy. Didnt know where to put this so it went here.

The new adult swim flash ad with the "TV fuzz" is very annoying to me.

I don't know if this counts as an annoying ad or not but it sure does bother me.
