Bagpuss asked me to post this here also. I hope it helps someone else.

I thought this might help someone - I've been getting acceptable load times turning off Javascript. The bottom message stil says it's waiting but the page seems to load completely. Now there are significant negatives but for just reading and simple posting it works good.

Major detractions - can't browse other sites as this turns off javascript for anything using the browser.
No multiquote or other formatting. Although for simple things like bold, etc it's faster to manual type it in than reload the page to access these items.
Can't read spolier items. For this problem, you can turn javascript back on and then off - you don't need to reload the page. It's annoying but faster than the alternative.

Just remember to turn javascript back on when you are done with GW or you'll be wondering why other sites don't work properly!

I'm using Firefox 3.6.something
to access this option: Tools > Options > Content

If you see a sig that you like, the best bet would be to PM/VM the user. Most would be happy to let you use their sigs.

No, I just like having the option without having to click "Top" or hit "Home" before getting to My Controls.

Home works for me too (firefox). If it's not too much trouble, I just like to use the link on the bottom. It takes out an extra step.

The top button is back. It sends you to the top rather than reloading the page so it's instantaneous. And the home key doesn't work on Win7 + Firefox 4.0.1 either.

I have Win7 + Firefox 4.0.1 (i think) and it works for me
