We probably could not have made it ourselves in less than 60 years as the tech behind it must be pretty amazing considering that only the Asgard have been seen with them as far as I can remember-we might have found one but it would seem more likely that the Asgard would have given us one(at the time anyway).

On the Oddessy what is the general concensus about her shields as I see 2 possibilities-either the Asgard replaced the shields with better ones or the ZPM greatly enhanced the original ones in which case the Oddessy only has the Asgard computer core over the Daedy and the Apollo???????

You don't know that. The SGC has been working to retro-engineer Goa'uld, Ancient, and various other races technology for just as long, if not longer than the Asgard knowledge. Granted... the Asgard have been FAR more willing to share tech than anyone else, but the fact ALSO remains that the city of Atlantis itself is a treasure trove of knowledge that the Atlantis team has yet to truly 'scratch the surface'. They still haven't explored the entire city, and even the parts they've actually been to still don't understand what much of it does, much less how it works. Truth be told, they probably have accessed maybe 10-25% of the entire city's worth of knowledge and technology.

The point being, the Tau'ri have more than just the Asgard data-base in regards to technological development. The SG teams had been bringing back advanced tech through the gate (then on to Area 51) for nearly a decade before the Asgard gave them the Data Core. Just as examples, they've got every piece of technology that was left behind by Ma'chello, or the contaminated world with the Alternate Universe Mirror. They were always bringing stuff through the gate and probably over 90% of it is still under lock and key, because they have neither the resources or time to figure it all out. Mainly, they are working on the stuff that the leadership has determined to be of greater tactical value. So, in fact, Earth has TONS of alien tech to go through and figure out.

Yeh you could definately take out a lot of wraith ships with the new upgrades, providing the shields hold.
