Thats because you've probably never been in a position of power like that, so you sit at your computer trying to maintain the moral high ground on an issue that morals shouldn't even be involved with. Even LOTR, which was based HEAVILY on Catholicism, had plenty of direct and oftentimes violent action taken against the enemy. Orcs, for example, were literally a creation of the devil and there was no talk of morals during their destruction. Wraith are similar. They exist only in violence and "evil" and they actively attempt to not only destroy our race, but to use us as a consumable. They HAVE to be dealt with, inaction is not an option.

Run, how i may ask, they were not clear of the radiation? they had a 42 second run at full sublight to escape it, there is no running option! It was a fight to the death, not a test they could run from.

You have to admit after the Asgard homeworld exploding the shield strenght of the Odyssey was 50%, i think, and tht was still strong to hold up against the ori motherships.

Well... It was built with Ancient Ring Transporters (formerly thought to have been Goa'uld Transporters), Asgard Beaming Transporters (more advanced in that your not restricted to location), Asgard Shields, Asgard Intergalactic Hyperdrives, and Asgard Sensors.

It was later fitted with a device to utilize ZPM power. In 'Dominion' we saw that the Odyssey had been upgraded with a Cloaking device. Very cool. Finally, we saw that it had been upgraded with Asgard Beam Weapons, a matter replicator (an offshoot of their beaming tech), a time dilation device, an Asgard Data Core, and various other technologies we aren't necessarily aware of yet.

Have I missed anything?

Nope u haven't missed anything . I'm surprised tht u have started my thread again even though it says ouzo, a mod merged his formn with mine. I don't understand y ppl say the asgard technology is better then the Anicents, there is about millions of years of knowledge in the Atlantis Database and most of if not all of the Asgard technology is devived from the Anicents.

I just prefer not to start new threads if there is a suitable thread already in existence. I'm not a newb. Anyhow, I've been under the impression that the Asgard developed much of their own technology, although they have made some advancements using an Ancient Knowledge Archive, which they were never able to completely tap into. Anyhow, aside from the Asgard Data-Core (which they STILL have) which wasn't destroyed. Basically, it will just take years to study and comprehend what's in there before they can duplicate it. I have no doubts that there are instructions on engineering and stuff in there, but actually putting it into production still takes time to do.

Wasnt it a really bad idea on Thors part to put the asgard core on a battleship? It should be stored dirtside. We dont put the pentagon mainframe on an aircraft carrier and then send it to the middle east. Bad plan lol

You know none of us should have been at all surprised that we we given all of the Asgard Knowledge as if you can all remember back to the episode "1969" Cassandra had one of those remote stargate diallers in her hands and also the SGC looked very abandoned like it had been closed down a long time before. A delicate hint that we were getting Asgard Toys in the future.

it had nothing to do with it. we dont have a clue how far in the future that was. anyway unending was ment to end some things. the end of the asgard genome threat. the writers were screaming all over the series "one day the asgard wont be around " and everything is like well yea we have a fairy as pet. now everyone is like OMFG I CANT BELIEVE THEY KILLED THE ASGARD. is like going through the red light 10x, while all kinds of signs scream you just went through red, then you get an accident and you are like wtf just happened?


the odys' upgrades will be passed on first. then all know asgard tech will be replicated. many things earth needs help with can be solved. we can get better nukes for instance

I sorta disagree with both of the last two posts. Just because everything was covered in sheets did NOT mean the SGC was no longer in use. It is JUST as probable that everything was covered up so that the team wouldn't recognize certain technologies that might give them a clue as to what the future might hold. Even with super advanced starships, the Stargate is still better for mass interstellar traffic. It's quicker which leaves the ships for duties in which the stargate can't be much help.

As to getting better nukes... geez. How much better do they need to be when they've already got one that can literally 'bust' a stargate. Also it will take time to understand the Asgard knowledge and technology, much less rush it into production. Sure, some technologies will immediately focused on and put into production (such as the Asgard beams), which are of critical tactical value. Others will be a while yet in coming. For one thing, Earth STILL has to deal with the revelation of the Stargate to the general public consciousness. That will still be very difficult, and Earth will have to discover its place in the universe and what that means for the average 'earthling'. The knowledge and technology is cool, but it takes a back seat as to what will be done with it, and by whom. Once all the big baddies are finally defeated, Earth will have to deal with the ultimate enemy within. Itself. Will public knowledge of the Stargate bring civil war, or planetary unity? That is a story I'd like to see. It would be cool if the new series tptb are working on would deal with that. I suppose not everyone like political intrigue, but this a unique case. I WOULD be interested in seeing how the writers play it out. Of course this topic actually belongs in another thread...

True,true-all I was attempting to say is that we knew that we were getting some tech from the Asgard from even that early point in the show, about the SGC what you said is plausible perhaps it was covered to prevent any future knowledge being brought back.
