I disagree. It seems the bridge is good for op con of everything else (nav, propulsion etc), but the apple core is good for poewr and other things. So i can see them keeping both in use.

that would be interesting. Young and co are on the bridge and suddenly Gloria appers and everybody freaks out, except Rush, "oh that's my wife"
But will everyone else see her, or just rush? And what with franklin? Most of us now think he is a representation of the ship's AI and is holographically representing him. With Gloria it is up in the air? Was she a manefistation of his consience? Another AI show?

They'd need to post 24hr guards at the door since they have LA people walking around freely.
Well, Easy solution is to only give out the location/code to get in to those with a need to know (scott, science team, greer, young, rush, wray). All else can use the radios to talk to them.!

It'll be interesting if Young decides that they should change the combination regularly (e.g. every week) for security reasons - then Camille & Rush lock him out and take control of Destiny ;-) Can't get to the bridge if the combination changes and he isn't notified.
That's assuming we even can change it.

Yes, I considered that. I think it's likely that we can change it - I will be very surprised if we're told in a future episode that the entry code for the control room can't be changed, or that no-one knows how to change it.

As they know the code, and they have access to the control room - which the code is used for - it seems like it'd be a relatively simple thing to change. They should have all the access they need to do that.
      Enjoying SGU. 'Nuff said.

Surely the "big chair" will be for the senior crew member on duty at any given time? As Young is technically the mission commander and Rush is the Destiny expert, whoever is on duty would relinquish the seat to either of them (should they appear), and take up another duty station.

The pecking order down the line seems to be Scott, Eli, Brody, Park then Volker, so chances are, everyone will get time in the chair, even if Volker is relegated to every other night shift.

Logically, the commander's chair will have access to all the functions of the bridge in a supervisory role, but specialise in nothing, which explains why Perry made such a dog's dinner of the piloting job.

The command chair can control propulsion directly. Perry's just a bad pilot, though you have to give her credit for flying a massive starship more or less by eye and only mildly scraping the alien ship after a wild miss. Young should never sit in it unless all the consoles can do every function it can, because he's not exactly qualified to be operating it. I wouldn't trust Scott, either, since it's dials instead of control sticks. Science team members are good.

              I can see that.

I think once they properly assess how system control is divided amongst the consoles of the bridge, Young will be the one sitting in it, though purely cosmetically. The various stations should have helm, sensor and comm control, so whoever is sitting in the big chair shouldn't have to do anything.

young will probably stand on that raised walk way behind the chair and Comanche from up there, the central chair seems to be the helm.

I think Young will be at the central seat commander seat. Eli in some heavy math concentrated console like shields. Scott in guidance and Brody in communication/bar.

I'm not sure, given Young's recent problems, whether we should be encouraging drinking on the bridge.

Controlling Destiny whilst intoxicated gives a whole new vista to the term 'DUI'

I think they'll still utilize the auxiliary room but it won't be as prominently featured anymore as it once was on in Season 1 and early Season 2.

I bet in the future, if they ever come under attack and the bridge is temp. disabled...they'll need to use it. They'll also likely have 1-3 people in at all times running other tasks that can't or won't be feasible to run on the Bridge (maintaining order by keeping higher ranked/more important people on the Bridge).

Hey maybe those blue aliens were the state troopers of the galaxy. Destiny was definitely speeding.

Destiny under the influence.. So would that make the blues the galactic police?!! Since they do want to stop us, and it was iirc not long after we got our still up and running they appeared.

Or the Blues ships are only factory tuned, if you can do more than 180 l/y per hour, they dont try
