Nice catch maybe a small interview but interesting. I was trying to work out how Carlyle goes from gritty roles to Scfi genre. Our gain is that an actor of Carlyle status is willing to change direction and to try Stargate.

        Thanks for the information.

this interview is wayyyyy better than the last one as it informs us on why he picked stargate. the other one offered us nothing but spoilers.

yeah that was nice to hear why he chose stargate.its obvious that if it was good enough to interest him...then it definatly isnt going to be all the crap people have been throwing about like 90210 and voyager(yeah if it were like voyager he wouldnt do it,so there goes that comparison).

Huh. Interesting. Thanks for the link.

It's interesting to hear what RC says about his reasons for joining SGU.

Carlyle says that he's spent most of his career doing "gritty, hard-hitting stuff" and he thinks the time has come to make a change.

"A point came about a year ago where I thought, 'I've kinda had it. I've kinda done that,'" he says. "'I need something different to keep this process new.' And I went to Los Angeles and spoke to some television companies, some stuff was offered to me, and this was the one that I liked the best. And to be honest, if you had told me that before, I'd have said you're crazy. Because it's not a world that I'd have thought I could inhabit. But [it was] suddenly a drama opening up in space, [and] in the past that was something that was slightly missing from the genre."

The fact that he had multiple offers and liked SGU the best definitely says something. It's also interesting that he sees this as a change from "gritty, hard-hitting" stuff (or at least, that's what the interviewer implies. It's kinda hard to tell since they clearly edited his comments and provided their own context). To me, that implies that SGU is not a completely dark show. But I could be wrong about that. I'm just guessing based on what it says here.

In the name of Hope, ships shall be built to carry our disciples out amongst the stars, and we will spread Optimism to all the doubters. The power of the Optimi will be felt far and wide, and the pessimists shall become positive-thinkers.

yeah im seriously starting to believe that it will have a balance between sg1/sga and bsg in terms of tone,at least eventually im sure. it starts out pretty damn dark from wat RC has said.which im fine with.
