Originally posted by ReplicarterVery disapointed with the past scenes, they should have spent less on reckoning so they could make the sets bigger, Rs's scene and sets just dident seem big enough, and wasent as cool as the movie, i know they dident have as much but i think it could have been better. And also the jaffa, they should have had ones like in the movie, and not just used the affa we have now, though im glad they had the effects for the head piece, where it folds in and out of the back, iv always loved that.
As for the alternate timeline, they seemed a little to thick and geeky, they may have sucky jobs, but they should still be more normal if you know what i mean, they just dident seem right.
I also was very dissapionted with this episode. Same goes for Threads. Reckoning was/would be a far better season ender. I liked the first part of Reckoning ver much. The first part of Moebius was mediciore. When I saw Reckoning i thought season 8 was going to be the bom, but Threads and Moebius part 1 really were dissapointing.

Okay, so watched the episode three times now (possible bordering on psychotically obsessed) but I will admit that I still love it. Dear foreign man Carlos and McKay esp.
There are just a couple of things I feel I wanna add:
1. Why was hammond such an ass? I now he's still generally a good guy, but he was a good guy before SG-1 and I think he was a little short handed here.
2. Major Davis - why would he have been here? I can understand his involvement in matters of national security but he seemed to be acting as Hammonds Second in Command. And he seemed to be a bit of an ass as well.
3. Why did they have to add in that Kinsey was President. God that guy has to be everywhere!
4. I'm not sure whether or not I liked Jack on his boat when he was talking to Sam and Daniel "Ohkay, yeah, sure." The voice was kind of weird and although I laughed, I now wonder if I should've.
4. Its still the Sam thing. I've established in my mind why Daniel's life sucked (no Catherine, No Stargate after being laughed from his speech) but the Sam thing still bugs me. Why wasn't she in the airforce, why had her life changed so much. There are some things I esablished - no meeting with Hammond in 1969, so no placing on the stargate program, but WHY NO AIRFORCE. Also, someone made the point that George knew Jacob, so he would have known who Sam was - so maybe it was something different about Jacob that changed Sam.
I think that's about it, until I watch it again. One thing I thought was good though was the fact that Hammond mentioned that the technology in the Canopic jar was slightly different to the technology today, which made me think about The Trust, as we know they were responsible for buying and selling a lot of alien technology that was used in everyday technology. Even a simple thing such as a camcorder was different because we didn't have the alien technology and other advancements that came with the stargate. However, Earth was safe. Was there the slightest implication that (In Kinsey's words) the stargate was a pandora's box that shouldn't have been opened? In my opinion its negligable - even though earth was safe you can't discount all of the people they've saved, all the worlds now safe. Even though Earth may have lost no one in the fight against the Goa'uld, who knows how many others could have died?

As with most Season Finales, they are good. But two parters. I can't wait a week, but I can try. So here I go:
Things I Liked:
1. The plot was good. The whole concept was awesome too. Yay for Puddle Jumpers!
2. Ra! Wooh! My favorite System Lord. I mean, did you see when he got that crappy offering and he was like "Oh me! No way!"
3. McKay on SG1 yet again! Woot!
4. Hammond! Davis! Samuels! So exciting!
5. "The Homer." HAHA!
6. Davis was a moustache. Haha. So 70's porn star there.
7. The glasses on Daniel and Sam. How ugly!
8. The Ra guard masks things. When Teal'c activated his, I was like AWESOME!
Thing's I Didn't Like:
1. AU Sam was so fidgety! My god! During the non-discolsure agreement, she was like all jittery and fidgety. Also during the whole thing!
2. AU Daniel I didn't like so much. Too not-geeky it was scary.
3. Jack. What an ass. Didn't like him in the AU version.
4. The whole way they found the second Stargate. I mean, dialing the coordinates and they expected something to happen in front of their faces. Come on!
5. Hammond/Davis were really like, rude. I mean, worse than Season 1 rude.
6. AU McKay and the grabbing AU Sam's ass. Not good in my opinion. Starting to carry over PU themes.
7. Catherine dead. Most people know how I feel about this and TPTB killing off so many people!
Good Quotes/Moments:
1. The whole thing was AU Jack on the boat.
2. Sam's expressions when they found the Stargate and were telling Maj. Davis. She was like "Yeah. Owned."
3. Any scene with them in Egypt, especially with Ra. Yay for time travel. Boo for sandstorms.
4. The Carlos thing. Hilarious!
I didn't think this was very fast-paced. It moved at a good speed, maybe slighty-faster. Except the beginning. I mean, one minute Catherine is dead, and then BOOM! We're in Egypt and we have the ZPM. I mean, WOAH! Slow down. Then the AU section was good paced. And then it ended and I was mad cuz I have to wait 6 days! Overall: 9/10. They lost 1 point because of AU McKay grabbing AU Sam's ass....too much like PU.

Not a bad episode, but not the action packed episode i was expecting. I knew there would be a Alternate Time-Line created because of this, but I wasn't expecting on seeing them until part 2, so that kinda threw me off guard.
The episode was much better on 2nd viewing I found.
Nice to see a lot of old faces from the series in the episode....however, I thought they would at least bring back janet before samuels!!!
There has been a bit of discussion as to where this fits in relationship to Atlantis. My guess is that this episode takes place a few days (or a week) before " THE SIEGE, PART 1 " since there are a few clues that the events from "Letters in Pegasus" have already occured.Spoiler:In Threads Daniels' paper says "Waith on their way to Atlantis" and Sam calls the time ship a "Jumper"
Can't wait to see what Part 2 brings......looks like a big reset buttonSpoiler:especially since Gateworld's pictures for part 2 have captions saying that everyone but daniel died in sg-1......so i can see them possibly making a 3rd reality from this all, which is identical to our timeline pre-moebius (post threads) where they initially find the tomb.
Anyways, I'll give this episode a 6/10
(Threads would be a 8/10, Reckoning a 9/10)

Fun - ny!
The Bobbsey twins of science rocked. It's a treat to see such a waaaay alternate type of Sam and Daniel. I hope we get some insights into what made them what they are. Sam kind of hinted at things in her "life is what you make it," spiel.
Lots of great lines, and even a bone for the Sam/Daniel shippers to gnaw on: "I'm not gonna let them shut you out. We have to stick together; we're a team," and "Are you a couple?"
Cute.
Nice to see some old faces from the past.
The episode ties in nicely with the Atlantis season ender, too.
Hope Teal'c gets more lines next week, and that he actually interacts with the geeks.Gracie

One is evil: he is fear, anger, envy, greed, arrogance, self-pity,
resentment, and deceit. The other is good: joy, serenity, humility,
confidence, generosity, truth, gentleness, and compassion."
A child asked, "Grandfather, which wolf will win?"
The elder looked the child in the eye. "The one you feed."

SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE MICHAEL SHANKS TALK SLOWER!!!! I could barely catch some of Daniel's lines[/QOUTE]
I know how you feel. Yeesh! Somebody needs to control his caffeine intake
How many times did they go from 3000 to 5000 to 3000 years?
Add to that the AD 2000 years - and a bit - and you get...?
The original SG-1 had four zat guns with them. Why didn't they just Zat the jaffa around the Puddle Jumper and take off? So all those egyptians standing around would see them, so what? Seeing something strange would change time THAT much, while them actually living there WOULDN'T?
And what's with Carter saying "I never should have allowed us to do this." Excuse me? When did she get promoted over General Jack?
When it comes to the science, it's doubtless an unspoken rule that what Sam decides, goes. Had she not agreed to the mission that would have been that. The fact that General Jack didn't reprimand her shows that she must have a certain amount of command authority in areas of her speciality.
The more I think on it, I remember in several episodes, General Hammond looking to Colonel Jack to see what Jack would decide. Hammond, though in charge of the base, often deferred to Jack, who would have to take charge of the mission. So this may be the same: Sam is in charge of SG-1, now, not Jack, and as such she'd have the right /duty to okay or nix the mission.Gracie

Why does Carter have glasses? It shouldnt make any sense, unless we TRY to justify it by saying something like "She spends so much time in front of the computer, or reading documents that her eyes went bad"
She was a PILOT in the original universe!! COME ON! She should have near or perfect vision!
And did it look to anyone else like there were gate symbols...on the back of the gate? I think it would be hilarious if they put the gate in backwards...but it didnt look like it. But more importantly, have the symbols always been there?FOR PETE'S (no, not THAT Pete) SAKE, THE ABOVE POST (if offensive in anyway) WAS MADE IN JEST!

Major Davis played the role of liaison between the Pentagon and the SGC in the earlier seasons. Presumably he would play a similar attaché role in this altered version.
The part about Kinsey as president is just another example of how events changed. Kinsey was always an important political figure in SG history.
I don't think you were supposed to warm up to this alternate Jack. No doubt to show that the SGC and SG-1 had a profound (and positive) impact on Jack's outlook on life.
The explanation for the slightly different technology in the video camera is probably a lot simpler than you might think. Ever write out something on a message board (or word processor) but somehow it didn't get saved? (Like for example during the recent GateWorld "blackout".) Well, when you re-wrote it from scratch, I'll bet it wasn't exactly like the original. In a similar vein, with an altered timeline, technology may evolve along similar principles but the little details would be different. Think of the video camera issue as a simple difference between VHS and Betamax. To Infinity And Beyond!
