This has got to be one of my all time greats too. Maybe its because there has been so much substandard fare that this seems so good but I don't care. I think that SG-1 could go on for another season but since it's not I'm just glad that it will be going out with more of a bang than I could have hoped for, and certainly not a whimper.
Daniel was just fantastic! I rarely have the same reaction to characters in other shows that I do when he is on top form like this. I had a similar feeling when he held Replicarter at bay...it's almost awe as to what he is capable of.
Yeah, I know it's not RL but any show that can get such an emotional response from its audience has got to be doing something right.
This ep is one to watch and watch again.

But a few questions remain that I am not sure will be answered in the remaining episodes, so they will probably get answered in the upcoming SG1 films
Now we now that SG-1 are infact:
          Spoiler:
The real knights of the round table, confirmed by Merlin and Daniel

and Baal will play a crucial role in the future plot line because:
          Spoiler:
He has been identified as Mordrid the Betrayer

          and according to Arthurian Legend:
          Spoiler:
Mordred was Arthurs iliigitimate son! Mordred fatally wounded Arthur in battle, leading to Arthur's death/ascension!!

          which leaves the question:
          Spoiler:
          Who is/was Arthur? RDA???

I love the current mythology slant in SG1 and cant wait to see how this mythology line will all pan out! in the end!

          SG1 RULES wooHoo!!

          Save SG1!!
truth be told, i think that
          Spoiler:
there is a greater chance that daniel is arthur than jack...jack is probably lancelot or something :-D

<mod snip>I'm not surprised by your view. I and many others don't share it and think that SG-1 after season 6 has been pretty much garbage for the most part.

Firstly, my Avatar does not reflect my opinion on every single matter, I simple like the humour of the character and don't think you should start attacks against him here as this is not an anti season 9 or 10 thread.

You don't like season 9 and 10 fair do's but the manner in which you replied to paulanthony's post was stated as fact that there were hardly any good episodes, which is not true, it is simply your opinion. Also looking through this thread I notice you attack various people for their opinions, one example was one person saying they liked '200' best, it is just their opinion and I think you should leave them to it and not attack them for it.

Just watched this again with my youngest who missed it last night as Tuesdays are her drama night. I have to say it was even better this time around, a wonderful episode. Season 9 and 10 have been truly amazing and this episode was right up there in the top 3 IMO. Youngest loved it too, she took the dvd straight up to her room to watch it again!!

Love Daniel in this and Mitchell showing what a great leader he can be when allowed to act mature and not go blundering around like Rambo. Teal'c and Vala were amazing and Sam punching Ba'al was great, he was so asking for it.

What a shame they are cancelling this wonderful show when it is just getting better all the time. What a waste! They really are idiots over at Sci-Fi.

Come to the official stargatesg1.com website and join us asking for season 11. The more people asking MGM about it, the better.

Oh I already have, and sent my letters and made my phone calls and sent my e-mails etc, etc.

They (Sci-Fi) really don't deserve this show.

Well, this was the first episode since the S9 premiere that, for me, actually lived up to the TPTB promise 'we're going back to the adventure and team of S1'.

I enjoyed it for all of the reasons other posters have already mentioned. A real sense of team; not only did Mitchell and Vala not annoy me - I actually liked them. Holy cow! Never thought I'd be posting that here!

Several posters have mentioned 'Puff', but I was equally amused by Vala's running up and tossing out 'Morgan Le Fey' and then when it didn't work, "Daryl!!'. I thought that was hilarious. I also enjoyed Mitchell's pulling Vala aside and telling her that the point of being on SG1 wasn't being willing to sacrifice yourself for the team, but being willing to stand aside and watch another member of the team sacrifice themselves for you. Pretty cool, Cam.

Loved Vala's concern for Daniel - I still don't get a sense of real ship from those two and actually I enjoy the aspect of their relationship which I see - that Vala sees Daniel as her mentor, the first person who believed she had good in her enough to change her ways. Also loved Daniel the hero, protecting his team at the expense of his own safety.

I loved Merlin and Daniel's confusion over Merlin's memories (which is another turn up for the books as the Arthurian theme has bored me silly for two seasons). Adria's speed dial was cool. As has already been mentioned, I also wondered why they were trying to stop the planet shifts when they knew Adria was tracking them and it was only the planet shifts that were buying them time so Daniel could make the Sangraal before Adria caught up with them. Made no sense to me, but I may have missed something in the dialogue that explained it.

The punch, of course, was terrific. I wished at that point that Jack had been there to see it. I could just imagine his reaction. Although, much as I enjoyed Ba'al in this episode, it is still painful to see him reduced to the comic relief and having lost most of the menace he exuded in Abyss.

Great to see them referencing Jack - more of that, please!

All in all - a thoroughly enjoyable episode. Now, if they'd given us more of this (and this Mitchell and Vala) from the S9 premiere onwards, perhaps the show wouldn't have been cancelled. Shame that they're just hitting their stride now (way, way too late in the day) and that we won't have a chance to see them progress.

BTW, I've just read some more of the previous posts - regarding the Sangraal. I'm pretty sure that it's sitting there on the rock, half completed, when Adria transports into the cavern and Daniel and she have the conversation about whether he should have used his powers to help the team or fight her. Could be wrong, but could swear I saw it there.

Listen, we had General Ryan come on and do a little cameo for us, and he's a real live four star, one of the big guys. And I had to ask him point blank, because there's a certain irreverence that I bring to the character, and denseness, but while we were doing this scene, I just looked at him and said, "Do you have guys like me in...?" and he stopped me and said, "Yes, and worse, and you're doing a fine job, son."

I've complained a few times about the mix of Humor and Drama being off, but I think this episode really got the pacing right in that reguard. The humor never killed the dramatic moments for once.

That dragon effects were really kinda embarassing to watch though. Especially the explosion of the C4 with fire effects I was doing in school 8 years ago and I'm not really a SFX specialist.

I thought it was a ****ing great ep. I enjoyed everything 100% apart from the dragon and Ba'al getting pushed around so easily (He's a Goa'uld with superhuman strength after all).
