I was really disapointed by this episdoe. I have no idea what we got out of it, and I feel that it was written very poorly... I mean, people are dying, everyone's trying to stay awake, but 'lo and behold! A lizard! All our problems are gone.

Okay so that's a little harsh but that's the impression it gave me... Usually in an episode like this, (i.e. Brief Candle) they find the problem and some of the coolest parts of the episdoe is solving the problem. I just felt that it could have been much better.

Well that's my two cents, but "To each his own".

Did anybody notice that doctor rymer (the one that had a heart attack) was the same guy who played Malakai (the alien archaeologist) in "window of opportunity", season 4.

Huh, now that you mention it...

        Yes.

what started as a joke turned into pain and geekiness gone bad. had to manually search for 'WoO' because Search doesn't allow fewer than 4 letters -- in a thread littered with Woolseys!

I actually liked this one. Okay it wasnt without its flaws, the quick fix ending being one of the worst of its kind I can remember, but still, overall I liked it. I liked Mitchell for the first time since Collateral Damage, there was actual team interaction, most enjoyable of all was Daniel and Sam. The Vala side story was actually quite enjoyable too, okay it was predictable (maybe if it wasnt Woolsey, but after "The Scourge" I couldn't see him doing something like that), her attempts to cheat her psych exam was entertaining, and the way she and Landry interact showed signs that there really is great writing still out there.

So, despite the quick fix, I liked it

          8/10

Also, was I the only one who noticed the Doctor was Malachi from WoO? (j/k)
Equality is not a concept. It's not something we should be striving for. It's a necessity. Equality is like gravity. We need it to stand on this earth as men and women. And the misogyny that is in every culture is not a true part of the human condition. It is life out of balance, and that imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman who is confronted with it.

did anyone else find Teal'cs line about no birds hilarious? it is almost directly from the episode 'first commandment' (first season?).

(I appologize if i misquote but the idea and characters are correct)

            First commandment
Teal'c: What is it Captain Carter?
            Carter: No birds.

            Morpheus
            Carter: What is it Teal'c?
            Teal'c: No birds.

HA! Good catch, agent_omf! I wondered why that seemed familiar, but I had guessed it was from fanfic.

And here's the original quote, just for the record.
TEAL'C: Is there a problem, Dr. Carter?

              CARTER: No birds.

Thanks, DEM. I usually re-watch the episode to get exact quotes but am feeling a lazy right now.

I loved the vala interaction with the other characters but this episode's only purpose was to get vala on the team which is evedent in the rused resolved ending.

Ahhh, I'm so late with this. Everything I have to say was probably said a thousand differnet times... but whatever

It wasn't as bad as it had the potential to be! TBH a friend who watched it before me came out claiming she'd never watch a single SG1 episode ever again (blatant lie, she got to watch both Pegasus Project and Insiders [cough, and Sateda, even tho she doesn't watch Atlantis...] before I did... *whistles*) but I kind of liked it.
I really liked the Vala bits. Not the cliche psychological evaluation - sorry, that wasn't that funny. But the human parts. Vala being Daniel's research assistant, Vala's expression when Woolsey made her his "offer" - eek! I'm going to go with the excuse of being disturbed by my grandmother all episode long and not paying enough attention to my inability to see he was testing her... I was like, And I was just starting to like the SOB... he was nastier than he should have been, tho. And the bit with the psychiatrist near the lift, telling him that maybe it's because she's finally met someone who believes in her... yes, I'm choosing to believe she was referring to Daniel rather than Tomin. Not out of ship - but because Daniel and Vala really needs to move to the friendship area and there's nothing better than those kind of scenes to do that. Also the scene she made at the gate room... *amused* I was afraid toning down the character might hurt her, but thankfully htey've managed to do it with adding a lot of humanity to Vala. She found, at last, someplace she really wants to belong to - whether it's because of Daniel, everything she's been through, the Orii threat, her just liking it or everything put together - and her own misery for feeling rejected, deciding to leave before she hears herself the "No"... I really enjoyed it.
I also enjoyed - back to the Daniel and Vala friendship - the way Daniel stood up for her with Landry, and the reference of Teal'c in that situation...
And I do enjoy Vala not being immediately accepted, neither to the SGC not SG-1. It would have been compeltely unbelivable had she been accepted that easily.

The opening was cute. Carter's "And you say I'm hard to understand!" - brilliant. The rest of the episode - well, I did enjoy Mitchell's jokes! Kermit, the knights who say Nii, the bit about the television show... amusing. Actor recycling, oh well. Yeah, I kind of already recognised Robin Mossley's name, eek. Did I mention I've watched too much Stargate... It's a good sign they keep on mentioning Lam, I knbow I'm a minority but I really liked her last season and hope she's coming back for the second half.

I wish Joe Mallozzi will stop writing episodes with space bugs, tho. I've had enough last year with the Scourge. Really. Did I mention I hate space bugs?
As have been speculated - I wonder who did throw those parasites into the mix. As I've already seen Pegasus Project...
                    Spoiler:
It obviously wasn't Morgan la Fey, being ascended and Ancient and all. I doubt it was the Orii, TBH - wasn't there a strong case involved for them not knowing the Ancients exist til Daniel and Vala stumbled upon the comunication device? Maybe just some random mutation.... *muses*

As for the plot ending so suddenely - eurgh. Can you scream, "we have no time left whatsoever!" and be done with it? I mean... really. Ah, well.
Pinky, are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Although not much happened in this ep, it inspired me to start writing a Stargate fanfic which will get underway shortly.
It was nice to see that not all episodes revolve around SG-1 evading some new Ori invasion weapon (like The Scourge). Did anybody notice that one of the scientists that went to the planet along side SG-1 was played by the guy who played the Time-Loop scientist from Window of Opportunity???

                      It was him!!!

That Sam/Daniel angst scene sure didn't live up to my expectations.

When Vala wanted to use Daniel's computer and he says:

"I've got alot of sensitive material on there!"

This is Daniel Jackson we're talking about. I'm going to have to echo nyxlily's sentiment here.

I had expected Danny to come out with someone along the lines of telling her not to go on porn. Another good episode. Not quite the best, but enjoyable none-the-less. It had a nice haunted house feeling but I just didn't see the tension. The set-up was really, "oh, no! We're gonna fall asleep!" There just wasn't too much concern.

I particuarly liked the Vala bit. She really is growing on me, as her own character. She's unique, quirky and growing out of the sex appeal.
