    I get the idea from 'Unending' that the weapon the Asgard installed aboard the Odyssey was a recent development and so was never deployed aboard their own ships.
    The weapon was most likely developed from sensor data from their ship in 'Camelot'.

    imho, if the Asgard had the population to rebuild their fleet and man those ships then they could`ve easily deployed the weapon aboard their own ships then gone out and owned the Ori, but they didn`t and wanted to make sure that only the Tau`ri got their technology and that there wasn`t anything left behind for other races to scavenge - something the Ancients probably should`ve done.

    I don`t think the protection of these worlds is officially our responsibility, but as we are the only ones who would willingly protect them without expecting something in return, I think we would try to help these worlds if they needed it...and if we get a Naquadah / Trinium mine out of it, that's just a bonus!

    But, as previously stated, with the demise of the Asgard and the System Lords, the Protected Planets Treaty is officially null and void.

      True that, the Ancients made all kinds of screw-ups, looking at what their "legacy" has done to the Milky-way, they are the evil ones, not the Ori.

      * The Goauld rising to become a galactic power using scavenged Ancient technology, half a galaxy enslaved.
      * The Dakara weapon very nearly wiping out all life in the galaxy, they built it and left it there.
      * Ascending Anubis
      * The human-form replicators from Atlantis - can't recall their name right now.

      The Ancients are total noobs at best, and at worst - they ARE the evil the Ori say they are.

          Without the Ancients leaving their tech all over the place though, Humans would have been screwed. No Atlantis, no Drone Platform, no Depositories for Jack to use (and therefore no meeting the Asgard, anti-replicator weapons, or ZPM).

            No Atlantis - the Asurans and the Wraith would never have become a threat to us.
            No Drone platform - good point
            No depositories - Not encountering the first one might`ve resulted in us never encountering the Replicators aswell as the Asgard. Although the threat that was generated by encountering the Reps is nowhere near enough to outweight the benefits of meeting the Asgard.
            The second one was handy in helping us find the platform. But if the Ancients hadn`t left their tech behind, Anubis may never have ascended which means the platform wouldn`t have been needed.

            The Ancients made their fair share of cockups but without them (and the multiple threats they have exposed us to over the years), we wouldn`t have a boat load of Asgard tech!

              [QUOTE=IcyNeko;6562038]Way more powerful?
              Spoiler:
              Might one recall what a single ship armed with advanced Asgard weapons NOT tied into the ZPM did?

              But the Oddessey does have a ZPM and the weapons and shields were tied into it! Thats why it could do what it it with such ease! Any other BC-304's wont have that extra power boost and the Ori will penetrate the shields with 2 shots of their main weapon.
