1) Referring to the Bible as "The Living Bible" is accurate, not in title, but in theology. The Bible is held to be both the Word of God, and the word of each book's individual writer. So theologically it was possible, over time, to move away from literal interpretations of the Bible.
2) Nasikh = abrogation, the theological concept in Islam which states that where verses in the Qur'an disagree, the latter is to be adhered to.
As Allah says in the Qur'an: "None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah hath power over all things?" (Qur'an 2:106).
The problem here is that the latest Surah (chapter) on jihad, the final authority from Allah on the subject, is Surah 9:5 - "But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them: seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful."
Slay the unbelievers, but stop if they convert. So the question is: what part of "slay" don't people understand?
Origin: those who will not follow the path of ascension must be destroyed.
Islam: those who will not follow the path of Allah must be destroyed.
