I think you're right on the money. I think the Jaffa, or some radical faction thereof, reactivates the Dakara weapon (per tonight's post-episode spoilers) and wipes out a significant percentage of the resident Jaffa. This mass execution is the "emotional loss" and the basis for the "Talion" storyline.

that didnt stop them killing off beckett. i think it will prob be one of those two as teal'c is very emotional about them both.

No one dies so to speak that effects Teal'c except a whole bunch of Jaffa. The emotion comes from an Old enemy who murdered Teal'cs mother.
