The Only Problem is: How do we work the machine? You saw what happened when Nirti (who had better understanding of the technology) experimented on those People in Metamorphosis, I doubt anybody would sign up for that!

Why does everyone keep comparing Nirti's experiments to Anubis's machine. She was trying to create a superior host, she wasn't trying to ascend anybody. It's not the same thing.

Anubis' technology was already perfected for making Hok'Taurs. Nirrti didn't know how to do it, she was experimenting. Anubis had already done it and taken notes on it all.

So basically what you've got there is not only the technology to ascend someone, but also the instructions.

I don't think you can use the machine in that way (taking people, putting them in it, and then taking them out and they have Ascended powers).

Khalek was not Anubis. He wasn't a person before he was created either: he was a batch of cells in Anubis's petri dish. He wasn't born, he was created, SPECIFICALLY for the object of Ascending. Most likely, the cells were altered during the initial tests, and grew from that altered state to form Khalek, to make sure that the powers wouldn't destroy him.

It's like a new balloon. If you try and blow air into it without stretching it, it doesn't hold a lot of air (plus, it makes you dizzy trying). But if you stretch the membrane it's made out of FIRST, make it more acceptable of what will eventually be contained inside of it, it can hold a lot more air in it.

I believe the way Anubis's machine was supposed to work is you have to work at the molecular and celluar level FIRST, and then work your way to more complex structures as those cells grow. You can continue to make changes, but it gets harder and harder for those changes to adhear as time goes on.

So, really, unless we're still walking around with free will in 20 or so years as we wait for an ascended army to be created, the idea of creating one before the Ori kicked our butts is out of the question.

Anubis recreated his pre-ascended dna..probably using ancient knowledge as his physical form wud have vanished as soon as he ascended. Khalek was a goa'uld/human hybrid with anubis' genetic memories. He probably started off as a normal evolutionary level human and due to the treatments in the machine, evolved to the level he was when sg-1 found him in the freezer. I see no reason why, with carter/mckay and daniel's combined efforts we couldnt use the machine to further evolve any human. O'Neill for example is already more advanced than any other human on earth, or bring back Jonas. It would simply be us creating our own version of the Priors. And IF we reached a stage where we could ascend then we'd see what the ancients did. They shouldnt descend the person as they dont mind ppl reaching ascension on their own, its just they dont like other ascended beings accellerating the ascension process..

Oh and the "waiting 20 years" thing isnt necessary as the asgard have advanced cloning knowledge and can already accellerate the aging process to create a fully grown adult in a matter of days.. (didnt work on o'neill cos of the dna marker)

Anubis did not try make army for killing Ancients? Daniel says, that others can pull down Ancients-Anubis to half way because, Oma help him Ascending. But if person (this case Khalek) asceninding by itself, others can not desecent. And Khalek have full power or Khalek mission was Ascending rest of Anubis to full level.

Yeah, as far as the Ancients interfering, that isn't going to happen, since there is technically nothing wrong with what we are doing, and it is, presumably, exactly what they did to ascend all their people (or most of them)

We'd just have to ascend enough people so that we don't send them to the Ori and we are outnumbered, because that would be very awkward...

yeah lol, ascended SG-1 vs. an entire galaxy of ori that have been ascended for 10000+ years... nomatter how good sg-1 are, theres no way we could match those odds.

Remember The "We Want to Interfere" Section of the Ascended that Morgan was talking about? She said they were not enough to convince the rest to go and wipe out the Ori, but it could be possible to ascend enough people to make that group big enough to influence the whole Ascended Body of "Government" into going to kick Ori butt.

we dont know how many ori there are, for all we know there could be billions

however given anubis planed on using the clone army idea to destroy the ancients, and the fact that the number of ori are roughly equal to ancients this idea could work.

Yeah, there would be a few bumps along the way, but Carter and some others would figure it out eventually. However, I wouldn't want to be one of the early test subjects, if you catch my drift.
