IMHO that version of Stagate you want sounds pretty boring. The introduction of the Asgard and many other advanced and not so advanced races is one of the reasons that made Stargate as great as it is. Plus, if it was just us (Tau'ri) against the Ori are pretty slim.

And what the heck is wrong with Star Trek.

I agree, and now the series is all about the Stargate again )seeing how the Ori came through a supergate (big stargate ) and that now SG-1 is using it to search for the Sangraal
