Just a couple of comments about Quest Pt.2 and hopes for second half of season 10:
Originally posted by grasshopper64 View PostIf I like an ep, I'll say so. For example I liked The Quest Pt 2, but IMO it certainly wasn't the best ep ever, perhaps the best in S10 so far, but there are still things I could find fault with, call me a nit-picker
Spoiler:
Sam was a rounded out character for a change - not wallpaper - and she got to punch Ba'al, big plus.
No duex ex machina beam out...wonder of wonders - they used the STARGATE!!!
Vala got told to *shut up* Yeah!!
Cam did *not* get to play hewo...awh, too bad.
Acknowledged, several times, that a person named O'Neill existed

Hope that TPTB will keep of THIS level of team writing for the rest of the season...not likely, but hope.sigpic

I've just recently watched "The Quest part 2" and some thoughts on the good and bad in my view.
Spoiler:The best thing about the ep was without doubt the interactions between Sam, Teal'c and Baal. Really liked the Teal'c humor such as when Baal got back his ability to speak, and I guess the highlight was when Sam got to knock Baal.
The more bad things were really anything that had to do with the dragon. I was sitting there watching and started to think if I were watching an ep of Hercules or Xena possibly. Didn't like the end scene at all, it was like the writers were trying to make us belive that Vala were the only one that cared about Daniel beeing taken. I used to think Adria had some potential to be a interesting character, but found her like any other bad guy(girl) in this one.
I suppose another good thing about this, just like the 1st part, is the fact it was more of a team episode. Sam and Teal'c wasn't really in the background. I got the feeling they really tried to balace it with all the characters. However I found it to much Daniel/vala/Mitchell. It was an OK ep, Sam/Teal'c/Baal made it good IMHO. If they could have built more on this kind of writing, the show might actually have had some potential. But eps like these are too few and very far between, most eps have only focus on the "big" three. You know who I am talking about...

I posted this question on another thread, but maybe more appropriate here...I'm having a major misgiving on the remainder of this season after reading the recent "teasers" released about upcoming eps.
Spoiler:The Shroud, "Will Jack risk everything?" Do you think they're going to kill off the character in that ep? It would explain why RDA has not been asked to do the movie. At the beginning of the season there were rumors that a character was going to die this year. IMHO, that would also be about the worst mistake TPTB could make, but they've been doing some stupid stuff the past couple of years.
Could be they are thinking that that scenario would give Daniel a lot to angst over for a long time.

It dosent matter to me anymore anyway, like ReganX said this isnt real Stargate SG-1. This is a different show and doesnt count in MY canaconical version of the Stargate Reality. All that would do is help TPTB ensure that I will never participate in THIER canaconical reality ever again.
Yes that includes Atlantis which is on its way out my door anyway withSpoiler:the Dr Beckett being replaced by another scifi actress thing. I would hope her character can be good, but I expect cliche. At the rate that show is losing its main cast I see no reason to get attached to them or it.Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"
^^^ Kinda sounds like seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 to me. Thor, ya got Aspirin?
AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.

I'd say a definite no.
spoilers for The Shroud
Spoiler:RDA did say in an interview not too long ago, as I recall, they weren't going to kill Jack off, he knew that much.
I think the whole "will Jack risk everything" is more related to the fact that apparently the IOA wants to have Daniel killed, and assuming the Pentagon agrees, Jack would be disobeying an order if he tried to interfere.
Not knowing anything about military regulations, but I would imagine a General disobeying orders is a serious thing.
Don't know just speculating.
TPTB are talking to RDA about the movies. There's some interviews with Brad Wright and Robert Cooper on stargatesg1.com (they are long)
but basically they say that there is nothing finalised yet but they're hopeful something will be (or words to that effect).
BW did go as far as to say that it wouldn't be right to have a stargate movie without RDA having some involvement.
So there you go
