There she was laying in bed, staring at the ceiling. He had just left the room and already she knew her dad was right. He was the one that could make her happy. But did she want that? Was she ready for that? Would she be able to tell him that he was the one. And what about her career? She knew as long as they both were in the military and in the same team, they could never be together.

All of a sudden her thoughts were stopped.

"Major Carter, glad to see you are doing better." a low male voice said. she had to adjust a bit before remembering that it was the General's voice.

"General." she said while trying to get a bit up in her bed.

"I just came by to tell you to get better soon. And hope to see you working soon, because the team misses you."

"Thank you, Sir. I'll probably be up and running by next week somewhere." she replied, while hoping she could go back to work sooner.

'Oh damn, now what am I going to do? I love one man, yet I'm marrying another...' she asked herself, looking around, 'what would show him...'. "General?" she called, looking up at him in realisation.

The General, who had stopped, turned around only to be puzzled by Sam's expression, "Yes Major, what is it?", he said, asking and wondering if it was to do with her current expression. When she didn't say anything, he grew concerned "Major? You wanted something?", he said, facing her completely and Sam instantly cleared her thoughts, before looking back up at him " Well I was wondering if I could o some work here Sir, just onmy computer?" she askd hopefully. "Ok, General Hammond said, " You may but only your computer work, nothing more." "I understand Sir", sam said smiling. He then grinned at her "I'll have some one bring your laptop from your lab. Get well soon Major" and with that he left the room.

When the computer arrived, she immediately started looking for the regs...

"Well, sir, as I told you, there was an alien ship. What I didn't say before is that, well, -- it seemed to be communicating with me in some way. I'll go into more detail once I've drawn up my official report."

"Oh, no Major," Jack replied, "I know your read-between-the-lines reports. I perfected it, remember? Give me the dirt now."

"Wow. Okay. Ummm, let's see" Sam paused, "Daniel was there, or rather something that appeared to be Daniel, and Teal'c, and my Dad and....you were there too."

"Okay, let me get this straight -- you went to Oz? C'mon, Major, you can do better than that!"

No problem. You made me realize that I saw "General" in the first chapter and had the timeline mixed up. She should have been talking to Hammond and I've got her talking to General O'Neil, who would still be Colonel at that time. I've gotten so used to forcing myself to think of Jack as "General" because it sounds so foreign to me that I just went there with it. Oops!
