Yeah, I came back a few days ago, and I got such a warm welcome back that I've not been able to get back to my lurker's corner. It's just too much fun in the Gutter!

COTG is part of the history of SG. It is what it is and IMO should be left as it is.

There were a lot of eps that individual writers/directors/actors etc were not entirely happy with. Should they go back and change them all? I don't think so. Messing around with existing eps wood be, for me, changing the natural course of the whole series and wood change the dynamic and natural growth of SG as we know it.

, I have to believe the other motive for redoing it was technology. CGI has improved so much in the years since the series began. I would imagine that knowing what it could look like bothers them now. To them, it probably looks like one of our first sigs or manips looks to us now, after spending time in fandom and honing our skills. As they learned what worked, they built their skills too.

And they talked about the score. Remember, Dean Emmerich (who did the movie) doesn't approve of what our guys did with the TV version of Stargate. Remember a couple of years ago when there was talk of doing the movies, and Emmerich said he might remake Stargate himself? Nothing ever came of it, but that had to raise their hackles. If the score for COTG relied heavily on the movie soundtrack, I can see them wanting to go back and put their stamp on it. After all, Joel Goldsmith's work is tremendous!

Just an observation about the two versions of Stargate. If I remember correctly, the movie was not a huge box office success. Don't get me wrong. I liked it, but it didn't really draw in the masses. The TV version, however, became one of MGM's most successful franchise. Just sayin'.

Of course, it would be ridiculous to go back and redo everything they didn't like over the years. I see this as more of a technical exercise to please themselves...with RDA's commentary providing the "sizzle" to sell it. Remastering the pilot? I can see why they would want to do it.

Just IMHO...
