OK, this one's bittersweet, deceptively simple and made me sigh like the romance-novel addict I used to be. This neat little story is exquisitely told from Jack's pov about Sam and Jack's attempts to keep their feelings undercover. Aah, but he realizes it's the under-cover parts that are the problem!

"Jack, please."

Carter begging, stick a fork in me, I'm done. Under normal circumstances my willpower when it comes to Carter is around 7 on a scale of 0 to 100. When she begs, it goes down 12 points.'

Past and Present

Jack comes into Sam's lab and picks up one of her doohickeys. She instinctively reaches out but resists taking it away from him and she keeps a careful eye on it until he puts it down. Then he zones out when Sam explains about Linea's experiments with the gas and she asks if he knows what it could really mean. He nods but says "No."


And as she explains he covers his ears, starts singing, she pulls his hands down and he gives her a pouty look.

The fishing invitation. Of that scene my favorite part is when Sam says fishing sounds great but... as she points to her stuff and Jack cuts her off and tells her it's okay and Sam watches him leave, looks back at her stuff then back at the door. Squeeeeeeee!!! There are so many wonderfully revealing expressions in that bit!

Small Victories


In Sam's lab when Jack sticks his face under her magnifier is cute, but i like the last part of the scene from when Jack says "I'm off" to when he leaves. There's a whale of a difference in how they talk and act here from Nemesis. This time they're both very comfortable with the conversation.
