You know, I've seen that pic 100 times and I never noticed that. Shame on me!

She was. I'm not a big fan of hyper-sexualizing female characters by putting them in skanky outfits....but her Daisy Duke attire was perfect. It wasn't just sexy to be sexy, it totally fit with Vala's personality. As if she just watched an episode of "The Dukes of Hazzard" and assumed that that's the way everyone dresses in Kansas

Well, I've never been in Kansas, but I assume too it is the way girls dresses in there, oh and in Miami, of course with skaters
Lol, now I'm imaging her in daisy shorts with top of swimming suit and with rollerskate in Miami, with Ipod. She's soo earthy

I've never think of Daisy shorts too much sexy anyway. I wear them all time at summer. When I'm holiday of course. And then there is formal shorts too. In city I don't wear them, when I use public transportation much, but at nights I love wearing them. They soo comfortable and airy.

It's interesting when we start disecting our favourite ships. Many of us also ship John/Aeryn and that "Fix You" video just reminded me how they, like Daniel and Vala, come into the relationship full of flaws and insecurities.
I/we seem to be drawn to disfunctional couples!

PS That video of John dying is sooooo sad it makes me kind of hope for...(spoilers for the movies)

Yes, anytime Daniel has armporn, that scene gets capped frame by frame But I am sure you already noticed that gioia by going through my PB...LOL

In terms of Daniel's development, didn't he have some sort of falling out with the opinions of the other ascended beings (I mean, aside from trying to kill Anubis)? Even if he doesn't remember what he learned while ascended, I have to imagine that there's still some bitterness there....even if he isn't aware of it. If you see what is down the road for humanity, what is supposed to be the goal of all humans, and it's the Ancients and their rules, are you saying that you wouldn't develop a cynical outlook on life? The Ancients are supposed to be good guys, and if they won't even step up to stop the mass-murder of millions of people, where does your faith go? I think maybe he learned, in some small way, ideals are just that: ideals....it's actions that really matter...that's why I think Daniel's become more militarized in these past few seasons.

I love early, sweet Daniel...but how could he still be naive and idealistic after everything he's been through and seen? He went into a lot of situations without a lot of experiences, but the more he's learned, the more he's been able to understand the complexities of situations he would have previously seen as either right or wrong.

It's okay to enjoy Daniel more in those first 5 seasons, but to sit there and refuse to accept the post-ascension Daniel because he's changed is slightly ridiculous. I honestly think that a lot of it comes back down to the new direction SG-1 has taken in the last two years. I feel sometimes like the people who hate the past two seasons come up with any reason to explain why the show sucks....so they come up with this Daniel bit. They're bitter about the changes and they put it on the shoulders of the character who has changed the most: Daniel. I'm not saying everyone does this, only that I get the feeling that this is how some people's thought processes work.


Yeah, that would be great (as long as Vala is fine ). Could you imagine the drama though? ANGST!!

As for J/A and D/V, like I said a few posts ago, I prefer obstacles in relationships to be the characters' insecurities, fears, and flaws. I'm not a fan of regulations keeping couples apart or "oh, they're married to someone else so they can't be together" deal *cough*BattlestarGalactica*cough* I think "Farscape" came up with a beautiful and tragic story to keep J/A apart. It never annoyed me because I could see where both characters were coming from. It would never be possible for D/V to get that kind of arc simply because of the format of the show...but I think the show does a good job of keeping them apart. It makes sense why Daniel and Vala wouldn't want to open-up to each other, given their histories. Their relationship makes sense for their characters....it's not arbitrarily written a certain way.


I am!!! I'm so excited about going to my first con I can't wait to see MS. I'll have to pressure my friend to try and ask a DV question because I know I won't be able to string a sentence together

How's the packing going Stef...LOL? Great post. Yes Daniel had a falling out with the Ancients. It did mainly have to do with the whole Anubis wanting to take over the world, and silly Daniel, wanting to help his friend thwart Anubis's plan....shame on him....LOL

Season 3 Daniel is one of my favorite Daniels besides season 10 Daniel. I loved how innocent he still was even after Sha're had died. But I knew change was inevitable, and he changed, and I liked the direction they took his character.

To add to your comment about people finding complaints about the show and blaming Daniel and Vala, they should stop watching the show. No one is putting a gun to their head to watch it.

I have recently began rewatching all of my sg1 dvds and I think the changes seen in Daniel are normal ones. the other three (sam, jack, & T'ealc) are all older and more experienced in life than daniel was so he still had a lot of growing up to do. In the intervening years, daniel looses his wife not once (her being taken as a host) but twice (when she is finally killed), watched everyone around him die (thanks to AU traveling), been tortured how many times? et cetera... Of course he is going to change. Heck my life from 26 to 36 was fairly uneventful, but I sure changed! we all do... THAT IS LIFE! I agree that there are people out there who don't like change (they got meds for that you know!) and they need to just stop watching the show and quit whining!

Okay, so it's been nearly 4 hours and the only thing I've gotten done is a couple of loads of laundry, a few boxes filled with all of my DVDs, two suitcases of clothes, and a clean bathroom counter. This is going to be a long day.

Oh, trust me...that will be the case come tomorrow morning. The last two times I moved, I was literally packing as my parents moved my stuff into the truck. They thought that was just my way of avoiding lifting heavy boxes....and I can't say that they weren't partially correct

Anyway, I just read two ADORABLE summer-y fics for D/V and the team over HERE. I especially love the one where they go to the beach. My heart melted with how cute everyone was (but not overly cutesy...just fun). I recommend checking them out, just some nice summer fluff

EDIT: I need something to make packing more fun. Those DVD commentaries for season 10 would have come in handy right now!! Oh, well. Maybe I'll put on my trusty old "Galaxy Quest."
