Ah... to actually be breaking in a new keyboard with a fic and not having your keyboard breaking down when you are writing a fic... such sweet memories.

So far just rain and a little wind where I'm at. Nothing more than a typical winter storm.

I thought I might put on SGA's The Storm and The Eye today.

Anyone have suggestions for SG-1 rain/weather episodes or maybe a good S/J in a storm fic? You know, so I can continue my theme for the day (while I get my paper done of course because I really have to do that).

Karibou has one, Distant Storms, that is incomplete since 2008... and I am not remembering any other titles or authors, although I know I have read stormy ship fics. Hopefully they will come to me! (Or I find them on my computer...)

Well, so far hurricane Sandy has thrown lots of rain and wind at my house. I'm hoping flooding will be at a minimum and we keep power! **crosses fingers**

I'm in DC. I had a bit of a flicker on the power about an hour ago, but so far so good. Just rain and wind here at the moment. The worst of it is supposed to come this evening so we'll see.

Oh cool! I didn't know you were in DC. Is that where you live, or are you visitin? I'm originally from Chantilly, VA (going to college in Oklahoma and planning to stay out here) but most of my friends and family are in the Maryland, DC, Virginia areas. Maybe we've bumbed into each other and never even realized it! O.o I'm in Virginia usually in summers, Christmas-times, and occasional spring breaks. This year I'm driving home for Christmas, and that should be fun since the closest I've gotten to driving cross-country in winter is during spring break, and that's in March/April, so it's not nearly as bad as December/January. And I make the trip by going down through West Virginia and cutting through the mountains to hit I-81 around Lexington, before hitting I-66 and then Route 28 to Route 50, so that part of the trip is going to be...interesting.

Good luck with the storm. My mom was telling me that everything is closed today, and the schools are cancelled for tomorrow as well in Fairfax County.

I have already downloaded a bunch of S/J fic so if (or when) the power goes out I should have a few hours on my laptop battery for reading!!

Things like Hurricane Sandy always make me appreciate the fact that, while our climate leaves something to be desired with cool summers and mild winters (and way too much rain), flooding is probably the only major threat we face when it comes to weather. And we're pretty adept at flood control; I doubt it's anything like what Sandy's victims will suffer! I mean we all know what Katrina did to New Orleans. Such devastation and damage on a large scale!

Tropical storms, tornadoes and hurricanes are really not my thing (neither are Earth quakes, by the way). I can't imagine having to seek shelter from such violent weather and wonder what's gonna happen to your house etc.

Not to mention the power outages and destruction to shops (due to weather or man-made) and all that other stuff I always see on TV. Brr.
