I felt the same after my mum's heart attack. Real shock to the system, I appreciate her all the more for those few hours of not knowing how she was (she had an op to put 2 stents in almost as soon as she arrived at the hospital). The house wasn't home without her. Upsets me to think about it.

I'm happy for you folks who still have their parents. Mine died within four months of each other, and even though it's been 15 years I still think about them every day.

My Dad discovered he had lung cancer, but had surgery to try to remove the cancer. It apparently worked, but two months later he found out he had four brain tumors and his health was not well enough for the treatments to do any good. They gave him six months to live, but he died 3 months later.

My Mom was in an assisted care home and I don't think she knew who I was when I went to see her while being in Juneau to see my Dad. She did seem to know I was someone important to her though. Her health continued to decline and she died a little more than four months later.

Needless to say, it was not a fun year.

My mother and her mother did as well. I was diagnosed with it two years ago, but apparently through better eating, now they're saying I don't have it.

sam: i'm pregnant. as in having a baby.

jack: okay.

sam: *stares and glares*

sam: don't mess with me, i'm hormonal...

would anyone be willing to write a fic for me? i skim read through a sad fic just now, but as always, the 'fix it' is blossoming in my head.

how about this...

sam has cancer. it's inoperable. but jack decides to contact the asgard so they can remove it from her. they say they'll clone sam's body instead.

(i have more details on it, but that's mostly what i'd like to read happen. sam gets a new cloned body).

My age? My aunt who passed away a year ago used to say "A lady never divulges her age". Let's just say I'm old enough to be Jack's sister.

Since my parents passed away, I've lost four friends. One to some form of cancer (I never did get it straight what kind). Two to lung cancer. And another to breast cancer.

In 2004 I lost my Mom's brother and sister. They died within four days of each other, from separate illnesses. In 2012 the aforementioned aunt passed away. And this year, my last remaining aunt died (my Dad's sister). I have no more parental figures.

It occurs to me that maybe this pairing could use a Fic Request/Challenge thread.

It doesn't seem to get much action, though. I was thinking something that was more prompt-y than available, if that makes any sense. Just seems like there's been an increase in "boy, I'd sure like to read _____" lately. But perhaps the plot bunny thread is the perfect place for those sorts of requests. It'd be nice if people could see their requests come to fruition.

Just speaking for myself, I have so many fics planned that I can't find the time to sit down and write I don't see how I can take on anyone else's ideas in this lifetime.

The only time I act by request (sort of) is if I'm doing some kind of present for someone. Even then, I admit that I will look through my own list of fic ideas first and see if any of them could fit.
