Hey Iffy!!!!!
Burbank Con report thanks to the lovely and talented L-Jade:
Next is CLIFF SIMON, he came in with Steve Bacic's cup of coffee... he said : Anybody wants to bid for this coffee cup with Steve's lipstick on it ? " :-P
Steve came out too and said quickly : It's not lipstick OK ?? it's just lipgloss :-D and start helping Cliff with the bid and took off his beanies and said : You'll get this too!
It was sold for $100 for a lady on the left
and she got the coffee cup, Steve put the beanies on her head and she got a hug from Steve ... awwww...
Cliff call the Creation guy and gives him the $100 bill from the lady, he said : You better take it before I spend it Then he took out his iPod or phone and said that he has arecording of the South African National Anthem in Africaa languange, it sounded like a fast-forwarded kid's voice singing some song, it's funny and Cliff looked like he's having fun with it. Somebody asked about his part in Continuum, he said he love it! the film is great and we're gonna like it but he can't talk too much, if we ask the questions then he would answer but he shouldn't talk too much about it :-P
And then the Ba'al become serious, took his chair and seated and smirked ....
He talked a lot about his accent, about how he used it to get jobs but actually his South African accent is not too good for some people because he was auditioning for the South African part in Lethal Weapon (him, 2 Americans and one other guy) and he was the only South African, but they think his acxcent is not SA enough. He went to school in Britain, that's why he's not too SA (he did some talking in thick SA accent), but he still using this as his advantage, because he knows lots and lots of other actors may audition for different parts, but he will get that few parts that really good for him and not many people can do it.
he did some Moulin Rouge in France, he used to dance the cabaret dance (he did some gay-ish moves and chuckled) and somebody ask did he get topless, he said YES! and bottomless too and he wore thongs.. LOL!
He likes being a bad guy, because he can do so much more and become memorable, when he first appear in Summit, the other Goa'uld sat so serious and tight, while he played Ba'al as slouching in his seat, and when Osiris came he's checking her out up and down, the same thing with Amanda, when he's in the same scene with Samantha (he always say the full name instead of Sam) he also checked her out and this make him different than other Goa'uld and the TPBs like it and let him do his Ba'al the way he likes it.
How much he influence his character ?? he said that the actor usually knows the character he plays the best/most, maybe at first the writers decide this and that, but after you play it, you'll have to decide, you have one shot at deciding how to play the character and he played his Ba'al as such that he thought was best. On one scene Peter DeLuise tell him that When the room is exploding Ba'al would scream, Cliff said No way! because Ba'al has killed millions of people, he would not have screaming no matter what, so he played the scene without screaming and it was better that way.
What does he think about Ba'al's name ? He said he heard all the jokes about Ba'al & balls. It first started with RDA in Abyss, when he said ; Bocce Ball ? Fooz Ball ? and from then on it's keep on adding .
On that scene in Abyss, when RDA said those line, he was kinda upset because that's not even in the script, RDA was ad-libbing and he thought : what are you doing man ? you're making un of my name and he felt like go to RDA and punch him or something... LOL!
He told us about some good scenes between him and SG-1, in The Quest when Mitchell offered him the power bar.. it was the first time Ba'al ate a power bar, and when SG-1 leaving lots of their bags behind, Ba'al actually took some more powerbars and hide it in his clothes but the scene got deleted
When Samantha punched him and he laid there bleeding, Teal'c actually smile and took out a tissue to give it to him but that tissue-scene also didn't make it. When Mitchell shot him, he made the ad-lib of saying : Not again !!!... (I forgot whether that's made it or not)
About his clones, he said usually they shoot the scene again and again and marked the floor where he would stand and act one scene, move to the other mark and act another scene as a different clone, and another and another, the scene in Dominions where lots of Ba'al clones shown dead took 4 hours to make and he had to make sure that his body parts would not be criscrossing with his other clones'. The same thing in Ex Deus Machina.
Who does he like to torture most ?? his answer is Chris Judge, he has good chemistry with Teal'c hating Ba'al so much with his jaffa thing so everytime he has to torture Teal'c he try to make it good. But he really like his torture scenes with RDA in Abyss because it's his first :-)
He hates that Ba'al doesn't move a lot. He came from the dancing business, so he likes to moves around but being Ba'al he has to stand there looking Lord-y and beside his costume also heavy, and the robes is long, if he tries to walk aroung he probably stumble and fall in the ramp :-P
He envy Jack O'Neill who could walk around and moving while Ba'al has to stand stationary, like in Zero Hour, he would like to walk the ramp but with his robe which is getting in his shoes, he prolly fall so he appeared as hollogram.
He talked about Continuum a bit, there's a scene when Ba'al met Jack and they greet each other sarcasticly, Ba'al's like : GE-NE-RAL O'Neilll..... and Jack's like : Ballssss....
because they haven't seen each other for several years... and he really like that scene.
He said it's a time-travel story, so they go back and forth and somehow it will explain his appearance in Summit too and that Ba'al knew more than we thought.
Then somehow I put up my hand and asked Cliff a question : "In Continuum, will there be only one Ba'al or several Ba'al clones ?? " (I didn't use the word Ba'als because heh!... )
Cliff laughed and said : You guys always ask about the Balls... he said that there would be 3 Ba'als or 4 and the interesting thing is that the real Ba'al will also be there...
He said by canon, the symbiotes are neither male or female, but he thinks as Ba'al the God of Fertility the symbiote has to be something (male) and being cloned again and again, he thinks that Ba'al's symbiote should be affected but the TPBs wanted it to be like that... so he can't change it
Did he like playing God or the bad-guy better ? he said he prefer playing Ba'al the bad-guy better, because there's more freedom in it and he speaks in normal voice, as the false-God his voice has to be change into that Goa'uld voice and he has to speak slowly so it will still understandable when they change the sound.
What is the best way for Ba'al to die ? Cliff said that in the movie, they will have one of the Ba'al die a horrific dead and it will be appropriate and you guys like it huh ??? .... :-P
He said he would love to be invited for the Third Stargate series and do more Stargate movies, because the franchise is big/huge and it's a growing franchise, he's also like doing the MMORPG (Stargate Worlds).
Then the times up and he has to finish up and sign the poster. He said ; Now you guys will take a picture of my butt (well.. Duh!) , so he swing his butt a bit.
