Basically I think, in the Nox, ,they needed to die so they could undie. And since military training and human survival instincts tend to trend the other way, Jack & co needed to act counter to practicality and training to facilitate the plot....showing that the Nox have miraculous healing powers and can undead people (technically you know, doesn't that mean that SG1 are zombies???)

out of all of sam's death, i think the one in s4 of atlantis ('the last man') was the one that bothered me the most. a close second was in 'continuum'.

*thankfully*, none of those yucky deaths stuck!!
