Sam Carter/Amanda Tapping Discussion/Appreciation

let's play a game. let's pretend that we've been writing stargate since the beginning. how would 'we' have written sam in all these years?

now since we're all different in tastes and ideas, this will be interesting to see what each one of us would have done. and since we're all kind to one another here, it'll be enjoyable too.

i would have made more of a deal of sam having jolinar's memories. that would be an aspect i would have continued from the get-go after 'in the line of duty'. not make her super human, just use those skill and memories more often.

(in complete seriousness), i would have brought sam and jack together in season 4, sometime after their zaytarc testing admissions. then, through the seasons , i would have had them get married. sam would have already had her second child by now.

i would have retired jack 'from sg1' way before now, with sam taking command.

i can so *see* all of this happening, with sam coming off as a competent and accomplished scientist and soldier. all the unease and uncertainty in her private life wouldn't have been.

i can see many of the eps that have happened happening again, with only maybe a small tweak here and there.

i know some of you would cringe at my super shippiness in this, but as the writer, i would have 'balanced' the many aspects of sam's life. many of us balance both without drowning out the other.

i'm interested in hearing what others would have done with sam through the years.

Ummm... I would have explored Sam's Tok'ra issues beyond S4, yes... Definitely would have shown her use more Goa'uld tech, and maybe even to the dark side with it as evidenced in the fanfiction story, "Hostage Situation."

I would not have had Sam and Jack get together, though I am a shipper. Sorry Sal!

Uh... I probably wouldn't have had Sha're die, though I admit that that was dang good drama and horribly sad.

IF I had killed off Sha're, I would have had more Sarah moments before she became Osiris...

I would have explored AUs WAAAAAAAAY more, and one of THOSE AUs would have had Sam and Jack married and with kids...

Uh... There's more, I suppose. Nothing original, of course. There's a reason why I will never write for the show.

Yep, definately would of had the Jolinar story arc explored more. I remember going back and watching a sesaon3 episode the other day and was like 'OMG they're talking about Jolinar

Would not have had any of the ship (unless *maybe* it was with Martouf. Well i suppose that kinda comes under the Jolinar bit. But no Marrying or babies or any of that rubbish! )

Would have explored her friendship (or maybe more.... J/K thats for fanfic ) with Janet and Cassie a bit more.

And would of had more Sam!Whumping

But other than that, it would be pretty much the same

Hey all just one quick post before the battery on my laptop goes. I'm in San Diego for Comic Con and I went to preview night tonight. Stopped by both the SciFi booth and Sony booth. SciFi is pushing Tripping the Riff this year - but they were showing Reckoning on the screen at their booth. When it finished they showed Kobol's Last Stand episode of BSG. They has a pretty big booth in the center of the exhibit hall. They have a sign up about the panel on Saturday and this year both the SG1 & Atlantis panel will be in one of the larger halls (seating 4,200). This room is almost double the size of the one they wer in last year. Friday night they will show all 3 SciFi Friday shows on a big screen with no commercials. No autographs this year with Stargate or Battlestar casts. They are doing a meet and greet with the cast of BSG for a few lucky winners in a drawing on Friday. I thought it was very interesting that the promo card that Sony has put out for SG1 has RDA, AT, MS, & CJ on it, they are pushing Stargate in synication. Well my battery is going so I need to log off - I'll let you know of any interesting things I hear this weekend.

No ship, more friendship, more Jolinar, Sam in charge and Sam in the pilot seat of an alkesh or better a mother ship.

A new review of Stargate SG-1 Season 9 listed under the News section...

I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad about this. Happy because this review sounds like what I have been thinking for the most part based on spoilers so my take on things, without even having seen the show, seems to be in line with this guy who HAS seen the show which does not bode well for season 9 at all. Sad because it looks as if TPTB really may not be able to pull this one out of their a$$. I certainly hope that TPTB take heed of all reviews of their product and don't just focus on the good, if there are any this year. (I also have a feeling that the "good" reviews will focus on the so-called "goofy", allegedly humorous aspect of the show and that too would be sad because that is not what Stargate is supposed to be - maybe, without telling the fans, this so-called new show cooper and the rest of the people involved in Stargate are talking about is actually the fact they turned it into a comedy. (BTW, if they treat critical reviews they way they treat long time, loyal fans who have criticisms then I fear there is no hope.)

i'm always a fan of the idea of 'sam and teal'c trapped together' fic idea, but it would have had to have been done in the early seasons, before they really got to trust each other

and, instead of a boyfriend, i'd like to have seen a semi-recurring character who has to deal with little things like folks going to work in a mountain in janary and coming home with a tan, or having to explain to their sig other what a staff weapon burn is, or why deep space radar telemetry has so many training accidents

(feels heart sinking) I just read the review posted by Uber under the News section. The only thing I've been looking forward to, is tomorrow night, 8 o'clock. Now, I'm feeling nothing but trepidation. I can't lose Sam too!

Sorry, will try and remain positive. It's only one review and reviewers are notoriuosly WRONG at least 50 % of the time.

The poor airman Teal'c slapped in the face with the door in WoO seems perfect for the role. Mr King of the Backcover Story ! I guess he has a crowded office in a small closet and a wild imagination. What's with all those SG teams always getting in the ways of Goa'uld and Jaffa ?!
